Dave Carter
David Carter grew up in the small community of Norval, and can be described as being an outgoing and athletic student during his time at GDHS. He was a member of the boys football team, as well as one of the first wrestlers to play for Georgetown on the first- and very successful- school wrestling team.
David's family was involved in milling and water power, and the use of turbines. He grew up listening about these kinds of activities, but it wasn't until the oil crisis of the early 70s that he became particularly focused and hence began a career in the hydro-electric industry.
Carter is the current Vice-President of Regional Power Inc, a company which develops new hydroelectric facilities. In 2005, Carter was also the first recipient of the Rod Dodikin Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to the waterpower industry.
Throughout his career, his hometown values continue to play an active part in Carter's business. The trust that he builds with small communities in many of the remote locations he works in, is critical and important to him. Carter traces much of this connection and trust back to the then, small community of Georgetown.
