Esme Nicholson - Artist
Esme was "a member at large" of the Palette and Pencil Club of the Credit Valley Artisans in the 1990's. She moved to Georgetown, Ontario, after her husband passed away in 1984 in Montreal, Quebec. Her paintings hang in the Links2Care offices and the town's Library Collection and are in private hands. Esme was said to be a well mannered, well educated English lady, she was in fact an Argentinian of British descent. Her father Edwyn Arthur Conan, was a British Railway Engineer, building railways in Argentina, he lived in the city of Hurlingham, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Esme was on a list of 766 Argentinian's who volunteered for service in WW2. She told friend's she had been a "plotter'" in the RAF she was stationed on the Isle of Wight, this is where she met her husband, Sgt. Kenneth Edgar Nicholson RCAF, they married in 1944 as per the marriage registration document. Kenneth Nicholson was baptized at St.Thomas Anglican Church in Montreal, the couple resided in Montreal after the war and raised 2 daughters, Susan and Jane.
