Mike Mitchell - Tennis
Mike Mitchell, a Tennis Canada Certified Level 3 Coach and three time OUA tennis coach of the year, is our head tennis pro! Mike is a former head coach of the York University Mens and Ladies tennis programs for over 10 years and has over 25 years of coaching experience with elite athletes in Woodbridge, Brampton and Mississauga.
During the course of his years coaching university athletes, Mike has overseen the development of numerous highly talented players. These include Ash Misquith who turned professional after finishing university; Mikhail Lew has competed in events around the world and Joelle Fisher, who was named an OUA all-star in all five years she competed for York, the first to accomplish that feat. Mike also had the distinction of being the head coach for the Canadian tennis team at the 25th FISU Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2009.
In competition, Mike was an accomplished tennis player at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, earning NCAA all-American and all-conference player awards, and is a former Canadian men’s over-35 doubles champion. He graduated from West Texas with a bachelor of business administration degree.
