*Forced to retire from the pro ranks at the age of 25 due to a knee injury, local native Adam Bennett still has many fond memories of his career and continues his involvement today coaching youths.
Bennett rose up through the Georgetown minor hockey system and played on the last Jr. B Gemini team before being the second player taken in the Ontario Hockey League draft by the Sudbury
Wolves.
After a fine three-year stint with the Wolves, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound defender was selected sixth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft,
five picks after the Quebec Nordiques chose Mats Sundin.*

- Dad always talked about his trip with the Bennett's for hockey! Adam assisted us roughly 20 yrs ago investing. Fantastic hockey player & all around nice person! Cheers to you today Adam!!
-I’d like to say that I met Adam through hokey But I don’t play. I played for Adams wedding years ago. He always remembers me when we met. I know he’s been very involved with youth hockey in town.

- Didn’t know Adam when he played Hockey. Just after that career when he became a Texas Hold’em enthusiast. Lol

-His family lived beside us when he was small. My sister Gail babysat him and his brother a few times.
- Great guy! My son played hockey with him when they were young which of course was many years ago!
- As a dedicated life-long Hawks fan, I was elated when he got drafted, and deflated when he got injured - but he soldiered on with the hockey school and life in general - just a great guy from a great family.
- Went on to the Edmonton Oilers as well, a huge gang of us went to see him at Maple Leaf Gardens...Gtown proud!
- Good kid, comes from a fine stock indeed 👍
-Won a bet with my uncle in Ottawa when Adam went in the first round...he is a great guy who is always willing to help out.
- Awesome Hockey player ! Great to be able to Say 'Adam grew up in Gtown!
Did he ever attend Milne's Camp? Wildwood Manor Farm.
Hockey was played Lots at our Farm.
My son benefit from your 3 On 3 Hockey. Best Skills Learned there.
