- Harry kept my interest in music so much that I played in the concert and marching band at the University of Tampa. Great time.
- A great music teacher. He played with some of the big bands in his day. I was lucky enough to see him pick up his trumpet during one of our concerts with the band. Maybe 1975-1976. He inspired me to play better. I was in the concert band and jazz band. He was well liked by everyone in the music program.

-An amazing teacher and a very special gentleman. I remember him telling me to go for my dreams and forget the critics. He told the story of being given an aptitude test when he joined the Air Force, he apparently did not have an aptitude for music......just shows you how wrong these tests can be. He also played the vibraphone, an electric xylophone. He had many great stories and always had time to listen to yours.
- Loved him like a second dad/grandpa and buddy. I went pro because of his influence. So thankful we got to go on some outings to the ROM and other sites before he passed. My kids got to spend time with him when they were little.❤️❤️❤️🙏

- Had Harry for Grade 12 music... Only 6 students...Gig Hillock, Chris Todd, Rob Puckering, Teenie Harmeyer another girl and myself!! Harry let us guys just jam for the whole year!! Was a great teacher...One if my favourites!!!

- Was so thankful for music class as it was Harry Hamilton who made going to school enjoyable. He was an amazing teacher a kind and gentle soul. Had it not been for music and band I would not have been introduced to the greatest horn sound of "Chicago" which is still my all time favourite. I always heard big band music from my parents but not until GDHS and Harry Hamilton did I really appreciate the exquisite sounds, love and appreciation of all great music. Thanks Harry, I'll always be thankful of knowing and learning from the absolute best!!

-Playing the trombone in class, there were always long stretches of time in much of the music we played where there was nothing for me to play - like a 32 bar rest. I found this boring.
So having a background in music theory, I usually just figured out what was happening in the song, and would improvise something that fit. Not quite jazz, but kind of the same idea.
Whenever I did this, I would look up at Harry to see if he was noticing. Without fail, every time, he would already be looking straight at me, and would give me a little smile. He knew exactly what I was doing, and he knew that I knew that he knew what I was doing. That was his way of saying "I get it, go ahead, jam on, have fun."
