- Strap Happy Pappy
- I was so scared of him, I nearly got the strap for being late, but he forgave me.
- Had him in grade 8. He was an awesome teacher and a very smart man. Met him again long after he had retired. Still had a lot of respect for him.
-I had him in grade eight, he was funny at times and I like him.
-I really liked him when he was my principal at Wrigglesworth. Years later I took sewing lessons with his wife and he picked me up on Monday nights to take us...memories
- This guy laid the LEATHER on my hands a couple of times......
- LOL..and of course..you didn't deserve it at all..so innocent..
- Lol ..... Steve tells me his hair would bounce when he jumped to come down with the strap
- I didn't know that I closed my eyes
- I cupped my hand once....then he held my fingers and made sure I didnt do that again and I got double... cause chuck peavoy and I were play fighting at recess. I guess he thought it was real..lol
-you?!... the strap?!... 🤣🤣🤣
-...I got a demonstration of how the hand was held open
-I was a fast learner...I only got it once
-..I could not see you bad enough for the strap.. did you get one across the hands to feel it...
-......almost, think my smile got me off lol lol
-Remember him from Wigglesworth, nice man
- Know that's Wrigglesworth but always called it Wigglesworth
-A no nonsense kind of guy
-Mr Kinraid appeared stern but he was a very kind gentle man. He was very kind to me while at Wrigglesworth. He also attended church with us at St John's United Church and that's where I saw the other side of him.
- I guess before my time at St. John’s. I was there for 26 years.
- I was there 1960 - 1978 when I left for University
- I was the music director there from 1984 to2006.
-I found Mr Kinrade to be an awesome man, strict but fair, he was a very intelligent man, he had an awesome photo collection of this town and some amazing tales of years gone by.. RIP Mr Kinrade. He became the oldest student at GDHS he went back to high school after he retired :)
-He was my principal at Wrigglesworth and also had him as a teacher..fair man in my opinion..loved him
- He was my principal for 5 years. Great man
- He was mine as well Jackie one person I remember well such a nice man
- A monumental image.
- Remember him well all through K-8 at Wrigglesworth school. Deserved the respect he got -firm but fair. Lived close to us but didn’t see him after school lol. 😊
- Awesome principal
- He was an awesome man. I agree Firm but Fair. I have a couple of fun memories with him!!! 😊
- I remember getting the strap delivered by him several times but a good principal.
- me too lots of times
- -I managed with the blistered hands, what hurt the most is when they jumped then hit...
-yes Stewarttown principal did the heavy breathing thing too. Like some kind of release? Really way too into it.
- Great guy.
-Was my teacher for 6 78
He was my teacher as well as principal nice man
-He was our Grade 8 teacher at Wrigglesworth.
- He sure did. Then he would flip it back up
- he can't remember why he got it though lol
- He was great - when I graduated from grade 8 at wrigglesworth.
- Great principal!
- Totally
-My aunt lived next door to them on Ostrander Blvd.
- Wonderful man. He walked and talked respect.
- He was my principle
- A very good man
-I remember sitting on "the bench" outside "the office" waiting " to see " Mr Kinrade. To this day I am terrified of school principals and dentists.....and try to explain "getting the strap " to someone now! Mr. Kinrade would sometimes come in and have the class do mental arithmetic and then if some got the right answer as he quickly made you add and subtract he would let you leave class early...I would have enjoyed speaking with him later in life but never got the chance.
- without him would never have made it in Grade 8 or my first year in Canada . Very kind man
- I remember the same thing with Mr Kinrade doing mental math. My Mom didn’t want to believe why I was home at 1:15 on Friday afternoon. I too would have liked to have talked with him as an adult. I have told many people you have NO IDEA where you are going in life when you are in Grade 7&8. Little did I know then that his teaching & coaching with public speaking would be put to use SO OFTEN in my adult life!!! 😊
- What a great teacher.
-I remember him so well.
- Upon seeing this picture a great deal.of memories came back. To me ( key words) Messer; Kinrade, was behind in the times. On one hand he was an intellectual and truly believed in what he was doing while on the otherhand he was, his size and stature, was intimidating to us at an early age. He was very regimented in his thoughts and beliefs. Upon reflection I do thank him and appreciate his attempts. However, his stlye at the time was ' out of touch' imagine if he did that now.
