The Barber Dynamo was built in 1888. - Location
The Barber Dynamo is located about 3 kilometers downstream from the Barber Paper Mill on the Credit River. - History of the Barber Paper Mill
The Barber Paper Mill was established in 1854 by the Barber brothers, who were leading industrialists in Canada West. The mill was the largest industry in Halton County and supplied paper across the country until 1948. - Paper production
The mill originally produced paper from cotton and linen rags, but later switched to oat, wheat, and rye straw. In 1869, wood pulp replaced straw as the primary material. - Heritage site
The Barber Paper Mill complex was designated a heritage site in 2008. The ruins of the mill are still standing and can be accessed by a side trail off the Bruce Trail
