- Bert was one of my best friends when we were young we fought lots and he was tough I could hold my own against him but he tuned me up one time in grade 4 and I realized he was at a different level , he had a heart of Gold I remember one time we Georgetown were in Brantford playing Wayne Gretzky’s team as he was pitching and Bert came barreling into 3rd Base and the kid on 3 rd base was covering the bag ,Bert came into the bag so hard the collision broke the kids jaw “ they called the game and we backed out of the ballpark as the parents were livid and Bert was such a Competitor he was adamant t
He kid shouldn’t of been over the bag Bert was so determined when he wanted to Win you couldn’t stop him , I remember going up to see him when he was sick at the end I picked him up and held him in my arms and kissed him and told him how Much I loved him ‘ and he said to me you know Vern when your out West and your playing Golf and it’s raining on you “ that’s not Rain that”ll be Me Pissin on Ya “ God we laughed so hard he had to take a tender moment and throw in the lLast Laugh ...
