-Bob came into Stewarttown Public School to share some of his war experiences with my class. He did this on a few occasions. He was gracious with his time and as many have said here, a real gentleman. I asked him once, just before the kids entered the room how things were going, He said something that will stay with me. He said, "I cry a lot more now." I'll never forget that.
-Amazing person !!!! Cared about everyone, never said a negative word about anyone. Always there to help
-A wonderful human being.
-Dad would not talk about the war to his family. I drove him to many of his Nov 11 speaking engagements at schools but he insisted that I didn't go in and listen to him. He told our son if there was another War he would stash Michael in his basement. Loved him!
-absolutely true. Only told me one story. Cried as he did so. Heroes don't talk.
-Thanks to everyone from the McMenemy Family for your wonderful comments regarding our father.

-Were the Canadian Legions created after WWII? Many of the vets spent a lot of time at the Legion and I guess they told their stories to other Vets who could appreciate their war experiences. The Legion was their Therapy. The Legion bartenders received a lot of calls from wives " Is my husband still there?"
-The Royal Canadian Legion is a non-profit Canadian ex-service organization founded in 1925. Membership includes people who have served as military, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, provincial and municipal police, Royal Canadian Air, Army and Sea Cadets, direct relatives of members and also affiliated members - from Wikipedia
- Our Grandfather Henry Shepherd was one of the founding members of the Legion Br 120 here in town.
-Mick..I was having a similar conversation today about what a great place the legion was for the vets to talk. I know my Dad hardly ever talked about the war at home but I'm sure the legion heard all of the stories they couldn't talk about at home.
