~ His first NHL experience was in the 1966–67 NHL season. He worked more than 1000 games, 30 playoff games, and nine Stanley Cup Finals at the NHL level, and was named Director of Officiating in 1989, following the sudden death of his predecessor, John McCauley. In this position, he oversaw a staff of 90, as well as the officiating of both the NHL and the AHL. He retired from this position in 2000. Lewis is still active in hockey, helping officials at the junior level. Bryan is currently Referee In Chief for the Central Hockey League and Ontario University Athletics.
In November 2000, Lewis successfully ran for a position on the Halton Hills, Ontario town council. He has held the Council position for 4 terms.

-Ran into him at Lowes in town last spring. Had a nice conversation as he was loading wood into his truck. His kids went to school with my bro and sister inlaw. A real Canadian.

- Bryan, John Mc and my dad Ron Breen were staples on the ice. All 3 great refs and all round nice guys. Bryan and Elaine were invited to my wedding but couldn’t come...he was reffing in Chicago in the big show by then 1974.

- Bryan was friends with my brother, Wayne. He is a Georgetown success story.
- Great man, down to earth. Very successful but remembered where he came from.
-Bryon lived down the St from me. I have known Bryon since I was around 6. Talked briefly to him at the car show. He knew my name and right away he said the number on Normandy where I lived.
- Good junior B hockey player learned to skate cleaning ice at old arena, 3 guys pushing wide shovels in a v formation they were called rink
rats because they were always at the
arena, lucky boys lots of free skating. Families socialized together a lot of laughter good times.'
- yes ,Bryan is a NORMANDY BOY for sure lived across the street his Mom ans DAD the best ,great family...have known him all my life

- Played with his sister Lauren growing up. He always remembers my house # when I see him. Lovely man.

- Great Ref my sister used to always pick him up at the Airport back in the Day!! His brother Bruce was a pretty good ref for years in Town also!!

- A great guy and wonderful success story from Georgetown. Always remember him coming into Joe's when I worked there and getting ice cream. Chocolate was his favourite.

- Bryan has always been involved with the community from before his high school days, good athlete and very highly thought of in the NHL as one of the great officials both during his active years reffing and later running the officials, but always had time to give back to Georgetown and now in the doing a fine job helping to run our town. A great Georgetowner :)
