-What a great doctor! My mom suffered from migraines and he would come to the house to settle her. I remember his office, before at the house, was downtown right by my grandparents house. Very kind man indeed!
-Aaahhh I miss him! Wonderful Doc!! Always made time for you at every appointment. Delivered Me, my husband & both my kids. Tried his hardest to get me to name one of the kids "Robbie" ...lol. He came to hospital to see Dad, even when he was done practising!
-Friend of my dad! And our family doctor, delivered Colleen❤️❤️Miss him
-Social friend of my mom and dad and family doctor. Good ol days.
-I was very sick as a baby. He used to come see me when we lived out in Silver Creek mom always said she didn't think I would have survived without Dr Mac. ❤ Mom always told me a story of one night I was so sick, she was pacing the floor with me and she looked up and there he was. He was coming home from guelph hospital and just had a feeling he should stop in and check on me. Very special man indeed ❤❤
-My first Doctor in town
- Omfg., my doctor growing up. He delivered my oldest. Last baby he ever delivered.
-He was our family doctor gave me my first stitches he decided that I didn't need freezing. .
-I remember Dr Mac knocking on our door on Maple Ave and as soon as my mother opened the door and I saw who it was I would run for fear of nose drops, LOL
-Our family Doctor. Great man.
-Our Doctor for many years
-If there were only more Drs like him today - an amazing dr and a wonderful man
-was my family doctor ..delivered both of my children and I had mega complications..if it wasn't for him???who knows
-delivered all my boys made house calls on that bike came one day from a party balloons tied to the front for Garry who was sick . will never have that family doctor interaction now
- What an amazing Dr. He came to my house to see me when i was a child.
-Friend of my father and mother...great doctor....loved his accent!
-When I was 7 months old my parents took me to the hospital with a fever and a rash. Thank god dr MAC was there. He rushed me to sick kids - I had spinal meningitis. He saved my life. I’m forever in his debt
-The day Bonnie was sick was a Sunday afternoon and Dr. Mac was out on a drive with visitors from Scotland when he got the message from me —he stop at the house and said he would meet us at Georgetown hospital —when we got there he was in the parking lot and said to go on to Sick Kids —we were lucky to have had such a caring Doctor and we are lucky to have Bonnie with no after effects —was a horrible time
-Wonderful man and a joy to work with. A born educator who loved to share his knowledge; he guarded his patient’s privacy ferociously and took every concern they voiced seriously. He was hilariously fun at parties and always game for a prank. So glad he was such a big part of career.
-Great Dr. He was our family Dr. For years. As I recall he liked to ski.
-Yes he a great doctor. I remember he shared an office with Dr. Bruster I think. And there was Dr Chamberlian back in the 50s as well. As a kid with stitches, sprains and broken limbs I saw all three before I was 8 years old.
- Dr Mac was also the first to bring up the idea of having a hospital in georgetown.
-Don't forget Dr.'s William and Thompson - they too fought for a hospital and did great work in Georgetown.
-Yes. But the story goes that there was a dinner party one night. And he was the first to bring up having a hospital here.
-He brought my brother and two daughters into this world. One’s middle name is after him “Alastaire” too
- He was our family doctor too! My dad liked him, Scottish connection! He wore a Kilt to functions!
-Dr,Mac shared an office with Dr, Brewster downtown
-He was also our family Dr, many yrs ,used to come to the house with his Dr, bag 💼
- I remember getting actual house calls too. Wouldn’t happen today
-Broken wrist / broken arm / pneumonia / tonsils / back injury <3
-Yes remember him coming to house great doctor have some memories with him and doctor chamberlain
-What a man!!!!
- Can you say "House Calls"? That is a thing from the past!!
-Dr Mac had a special connection to the Hayes Clan. Not only was he our family doctor, he was one of Mums best friends. He delivered my brother Eoin Alistair Mackintosh Hayes and is also Eoin's godfather.
R.I.P. Dr Mack.😔
-I´d say late 50´s, maybe very early 60`s, there was a grand ol´doc in what I believe was his own private home, (a huge front porch, fieldstone pillars) located across from, more or less, the old cinema....or where the Good Will location is/used to be... you never felt the needles going in as you examined his fishing rods and trophies (fish) hanging on the walls of his practice. Great old school gentleman....and I remember he always "fixed you up."
-that was Dr. Paul. He was our family Dr. Before Dr. Macintosh.
-Dr. Paul was our family doc. I remember him coming to the farm to see us when we had measles or chicken pox. If you went to his office you just took the chance that he was “in” and not out on a call. No appointment, ever! He was great!
-Watched 2 Santa Clause parades from his office window. Too exited about the parade . Jumping up and down fell off my bed. Off to Doctor Mac for Stitches
- Delivered me and then had to tell my mom I was a girl, not a boy as they were hoping :)
-What a great man, was our Dr. Until he couldn’t practise anymore.
-Dr. Mac was our family Doctor when he first arrived in Georgetown. He was with Mom when she passed away in September 1954. He delivered my daughter at Guelph St. Joseph's Hospital and was out of town when my son was born so Dr. Brewster took over as he shared an office with Dr. Mac at that time. Dr. Mac removed my children's Tonsils in Georgetown Hospital. We always kept in touch with him after we moved. He was a wonderful man, friend, and Doctor. He is dearly missed.
- Was our Family Dr. as well. Drove Mum to Guelph to deliver a couple of the boys. My one Brother is named after him. Mum & him would talk a lot about Scotland. Remember him doing house calls also.
-He was our family doctor too. What a wonderful human being he was.
-Delivered this guy.
-Dr" Mac delivered my daughter
- Dr. Mac delivered my 3 children and always made house calls great doctor
- Dr Mac. Great doctor. One of a kind. Never rushed anyone
-Loved that man! Okay so my husband was delivered in Dundee, Scotland by Doc Mac during his internship. 3 years later Doc Mac moved to Georgetown and brought me into the world at Guelph hospital. Almost delivered our son but he went skiing in Vancouver and Drew came early.
-I can remember being terrified of Dr Mac when I was little, because he had harry hands. Then I had my pre high school check up and just happened at that time to have an embarrassing love bite. (Blush) He told me I was headed for trouble. Well never got in trouble. I was a good girl. HA HA
-Yes. Shame on that brother of yours. But because of Dr Mac, I never , never had another. LOL
-Dr" Mac delivered my daughter
- My Mom Sylvia worked for Dr Mac over 28 years or more
- I remember your Mom I really liked her !
- she was a awesome lady <3
-Oh I remember Sylvia... she was very friendly
-I remember visiting his office... he delivered me at Georgetown General too, in 1969.
-I Remember he always came to our house
- Oh....I remember him well...he use to do home visits way back....is he still alive....HE WAS THE BEST DOCTOR EVER
- Dr Mac passed. In 2006.
-Came to our house at 3 am in the morning in the dead of winter. Saved my life he did
-He was our Family Dr. as well and remember many a house call he made!
-Dr Mac was our family doctor forever, he loved Rabbit pie, so dad would go out on the weekend get a couple of Cottontails, he cleaned them and mom soaked them over night in Salt & Water then made two Rabbit Pies, they would invite Dr Mac for a piece of pie and before he left mom would wrap the other one up for him to take home. Recall him coming back from a Skiing trip with a Fresh Leg cast on to the house as I was ill. Often made house calls. RIP Dr Mac, thank you
- I remember when he broke his leg skiing ,
-He was our family’s doctor. I remember him making house calls. 👍🏻
-My parents bought Dr. Mac's house on Shelley Street. Lloyd and Barbara Mark's lived next door and were very good friends of his, so became friends of ours. I remember watching Dr.Mac show me how to shuck and eat raw oysters at Mark's farm in Hillsburgh. We were so lucky to have doctors like Dr. Mac, Doc Williams, Dr. Thompson to look after us. We Normandy Blvd. kids often needed extra care!!
-He delivered my mom Marilyn Brock-Moneypenny as well as the four of us Moneypenny kids he was an exceptional Human being.
-Our Dr. also delivered all my children. Would make house calls day or night and weekends. Such a kind man.
-and was my dr when I was pregnant
