-A lovely man. His wife Jean was my mom's best friend. The two ladies met every Thursday afternoon for a chat and a little lunch. They did that for over 30 years. When young i joined the ladies after school. Saw Bungy almost every week. So kind to this little kid. When retired the two husband's would wander off for a beer together while the ladies solved the problems of the world. A true gentleman.
-Thursday afternoon’s where sometimes spent at the Hollywood in Norval with my Dad as well!
-your dad was also a lovely man and a good friend of my dad's.
-Another "gentle man" who committed many hours to achieve the Honour of the Hockey Heritage Award.
- I KNOW THIS GUY, I BELIEVE HE LIVED AT MEMORIAL ARENA. NICE CHAP.
- I CALLED HIM "DAD"
-Another great man who spent endless hrs at the arena helping kids
-I don’t think I was ever at the arena and didn’t see Mr. Ward. Dedicated worker and a true gentleman...
- Took his holidays every year for the Bantom Hockey Tournament.
-When I picture your Dad, Mary Jane, he is at the old arena.
- ha ha so true
-didn’t your Dad take holidays for the Baseball World Series too? I remember living just down the street when I was little and what a nice kind man he was😊.
-little baseball mostly hockey.
- Great man helped teach me to skate and play hockey, best rink in town
-I remember Mr. Ward.
-Yes he did. A good man
-THIS WILL DATE EVERYONE...IF HE WAS STILL LIVING, HE WOULD BE 107 YEARS OLD.
-Ok. I’ll ask. What’s the story behind “bungy” ?
-Good question Bonnie, Dave has always been known as "Bungy" to me, obviously because of his dad - but yeah - why?
-AS A YOUNG PERSON MY GRANDFATHER LOST PART OF HIS ARM DURING A MISSHAP WITH A SHUNTING TRAIN. HE WAS RECILIENT AS AN ADULT. HE WAS THE LAST ONE IN GEORGETOWN TO USE A HORSE AND BUGGY, other than the milkman, HE HARNESSED THE HORSE WITH ONE ARM. HE WAS AT SOMETIME A BAILIFF AND HE WOULD THREATEN TO "BUNG" YOU WITH HIS SHORT ARM, IF YOU GAVE HIM ANY TROUBLE. THUS MY DAD PICKED UP THE NICK NAME "BUNGY" AFTER HIS FATHER. MY DAD WORKED AT ALLIANCE PAPER MILL FOR 47 YEARS. HIS BROTHER FLOYD FROM GLEN WILLIAMS WORKED ACROSS THE ROAD AT PROVINCIAL PAPER MILL. FLOYD RAISED RABBITTS AND HAD THE NICKNAME, "BUNNY". AS A CHILD I COULD TELL HOW WELL SOMEONE KNEW MY DAD IF THEY CALLED HIM BUNGY OR BUNNY.
I DONT KNOW IF THIS HELPS OR HINDERS??
-That's a great story. Always wondered where the name came from.
-Wow, thanks Paul for the explanation, that's awesome to know. I never knew your father or uncle Floyd but my dad & uncle worked at Provincial/Abitibi for years and 2 other uncles worked at Alliance/Domtar so I'm sure they all knew each other. Thanks for sharing this story.

-now I'm jealous, love that buddy! We suffered many years up until 2010. I like what they have done this off season, should be contending again this year I hope. My dad was a huge Hawks fan (where I got it from), too bad he wasn't around to see them rise back up. I've known your brother Dave for the better part of 40 years, hopefully I'll get to meet you one day. Go Hawks!
