-My brother Jack Gudgeon third from the right, back row
-he was a great math teacher 👨‍🏫
-He was the BEST Math teacher! We were all scared of him until we had him in grade 8 and thought he was so cool!😎
-did your brother teach in Malton at one point? I'm sure I remember my cousin saying he had him for a teacher there.
- he truly was the best! Probably why I love math to this day! Hard to make him crack a smile...but such satisfaction when you did!
-No he didn't. Just Georgetown
- Jack taught me at Centennial and then our son in High School. Now he lives across the street from my Mom. 😀
-Had Mr Gudgeon for Grade 8 math - and Mr Dickson for Grade 6 math. Both were excellent teachers. Funny that I can’t remember who I had for Grade 7. Just remember that the pod classes were not good for students who were easily distracted. Wonder if they installed walls since then...
-Mr. Elliott top center to the left
-I loved him. Such a kind man.
-Mrs . P Ball , and Mrs Murray, MR.Atikinson
-he's not doing so well right now.
-Mr. Elliott?
- I saw him at the Centennial reunion the summer of 2017.
-I was only there for gr 8. Mr. Otto was home room teacher. And Mr. Greig history, I still have my notebooks. Best class ever. I recognize others but I've forgotten names.
-I see Mr Atkinson. Mr Weedmark Mr McNally Mr Hagger Mr Greig(my favorate teacher ever) Mr Cathrae and Mr Chatten a bit after my time.
- I think I see Jim Hall
-I think that's Tom Cruise ! :)
- Jim Hall really......
- Jim Hall Outstanding!!!
-Jim Hall definitely one of my favourite teachers. Making solar systems and projects where we had to cook recipe from the country we were studying.
- I am sorry. Jim Hall. We are talking about the same Jim Hall. Lol
- Jim Hall was definitely top of my list !!!
Delete or hide this
-Anu Taylor my fave gym teacher
-Mrs. Cowan??
- Front Mrs. Miersma,Mrs. Riddell, Mrs. Taylor ,Mrs. Girard, Mr. Fink, V.P. Mr. Chatten, Princip Mrs. Gluck Mrs. Cowan, Mrs. Moffet , Mrs. Cameron. Middle Mrs. Ashcroft ,Mr. Haslet, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Ball ,Mr. Di kwon, Mr. Owen, Mr. Otto , Mrs. Callagan ,Mrs. Wilson ,Mrs. Graham, Mr. Warren, Mr. Hall , Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Murray. BACK Mr. Atkinson,Mr. Wilson, Mr. Weedmark, Mr. McNally, Mr. Hager, Mr. Elliot, Mr. Grigg, Mr. Gregory , Mr. Hopwood ,Mr. Gudgeon, Mr. Cathrae ,Mr. Jefferson
-And the good memory award goes to......
- I attended Centennial . Something I finally remember since I left so long ago (1974 )
- look at you lol smarty pants
- how can you remember all that??
-Mr. Dickson not Dikwon sorry Mr. Dickson and his family .☺
-Doris Brocke Its about all I remember from Georgetown . I didn't recognize my own home on Duncan Drive when I took my daughter out there in 2012 . I knew it was our home because of the school next door . Didn't recognize it either . And Hungry Hallow but I have a scar on my knee to remember where and how I got it in Hungry Hallow . Even my dad and now moms plot in the cemetary because the tree was gone . 😔
- I left centennial in '69
-Mrs Ball best math teacher ever!( sorry mrs kewley)
-Mr Gudgeon best math teacher. Lol
-I see my Dad David McNally
-I see my Dad too-- Don Grigg
5
- I do too!! We must have the same Dad!! Haha
-Wasn't his saying something about a 50/50 deal ?
-Yes-- those words are on his tombstone too
- Excellent. I certainly paid attention in his class. He was an amazing teacher. Every lesson was interesting and challenging. He must have been a great Dad I am sure.
-I still live in Georgetown and to this day I have my Dad's old students coming up to me and telling me that they remember Mr. Grigg... "It's a 50/50 deal!!" , after all these years. And yes ....he asked to have that saying inscribed on his tombstone.
I miss him.... 😕
-Your dad was a fine influence on almost everyone, but “the straw that broke the camels back “ stuck with me to this day. He was a blessing to the open mind.
-I had to get glasses because your Dad turned me in. I kept squinting at the board. 😍
- LOL
-That is probably three times as many teachers as when I attended.
-Oh, many moons ago!
- My Dad, Don Grigg use to love teaching history!
He enjoyed teaching his students and took his job seriously. He was my history teacher too!
- I am pretty sure you were in my class with him.
-An excellent teacher he was indeed.
-Randy lots of fun sitting at those big round tables in the “pods” giggling....
-He was one of my fav teachers!! :)
- Mrs. Ball, Mr. Grigg
- I remember Mr Otto!
-Mr. Weedmark wasn't he the music teacher .
-I remember learning the recorder and he picked me for the alto recorder because I had really long fingers to reach the holes! Lol
-Is be still around Randy
-I have no idea Sharon but i am sure someone on here will.
-he was a really good music teacher, but he was very abusive and his actions still affect me today.
- I am pretty sure there were no participation awards in his music class. Only two classes I was quiet in. Music and French.
Maybe if I make myself really small they won't notice I am here. Hated music class and I am pretty sure it wasn't just me.
- remember Mr. Weedmark having a really short fuse and being very loud when he got cross. Yes he was a bit scary.
-I had an ulcer from him. True story. I had to drink something to coat my stomach before I ate. He was a yeller. He put some amazing choirs together tho. But I back Sharon.
- agree with you. He was loud
- Pretty lucky to have attended for three years. It was a great school with mostly great teachers. Everyone usually seemed to be having a pretty good time most days, students and teachers. Very little drama in those days. The odd student backed threw a window and everyone fell into line pretty quickly.
- Mr. Chatten the principal is my dad 😊😊
- I liked your dad nice man.
-He had the BEST cheers and loudest voice at the hockey arena!!🤣
- Beth Murray.. I saw you right away 😉
-45 years ago. We were a young bunch of teachers!
-omg...love this...Mrs. Tayor, Mrs Meirsa, Mr. Chatten, Mr. Hall, Mr. Weedmark, Mr. Otto, Mr. Gudgeon...xo many great teachers
- haha LOVED Mr. Gudgeon! He was my ultimate favourite Math teacher (probably why I still love math) every time I put up my hand he looked at the ceiling! 🤣
-This group of people influenced me very much. Very impressionable years middle school.
-Jimmy Hall...you looked like you were up to no good with that grin on that photo ! 😀
-that’s what I thought too!!! Jim Hall!!
--must have been thinking about Patty at the time, my friend ! :)
-Mrs Ball and Mr. Gudgeon
- Mr Atkinson
- Jim Atkinson look at those sideburns!!!! 😎
-Mrs. Ball, Mr. Hall, Mr. McNally, Mr. Hagar, Mrs. McCausland RIP, Mr.Grigg, Mr. Atkinson, Mr. Dixon....Mrs.Cowan, that's all I can recall.
- That was such a sad day when I heard the news we lost Mrs. McCausland. :(
-it was. She was my favourite teacher throughout my youth.
- I had already left the school when I heard the news. I really enjoyed her class and still have memories of the recipes, the sewing projects and other things she taught us. May she rest in peace. Gone too soon.
- she inspired me to continue to make sewing items which I now sell. And yes, gone too soon. That was a very sad day for me.
-Wow. I'm a sewer too... what sort of things are you selling?
-That was a great school “ I see my Grade 7 Home Room Teacher “ Big Dave Hagar front and centre with the purple shirt “ I remember I threw a rolled up piece of foolscap paper up to his desk and it bounced off the rim and he told me to pick it up and I proceeded to tell him to F off anyways not a good idea ‘ down to Skinheads office and he is giving me the strap I’m not kidding you Dave was a big Dude and he was coming off the ground on every swing I wouldn’t cry so he kept going finally I caved after 14 swings “ I kid you not I had planters warts on my palm so I’m thinking this will never happen HB Skinhead covers my palms and Big Dave proceeds to hit my lower palm and thumbs they were black and blue for 6 Months Dave had to have been 375- 400 pounds and I can still see him coming 2-3 inches off the ground on every swing God Rest His Soul ‘ I ran into him years later in a Bar in Manning Northern Alberta circa 1977 I was walking up to the Bartender around Midnight and he says Vern McLaughlin I couldn’t believe my eyes he cashed my cheque at the bar and I bougHt a case of off sale Beer to take with me we reminisced about our times in Centennial School he was the manager and Bartender anyways I was working on the Oil rigs later on again that year and stopped in to the Bar to say hello only to find out that Dave had joined the Pipelines and was Stringing Pipe a job I had also done as well very dangerous and you needed split second timing and great hand eye coordination any ways I was told Dave was up on the back of a 40 ft flat deck trailer and was stringing pipe which consisted of a long rope hook to a Big Boom and a big hook claw year you stab into the pipe it’s all done really fast and timing has to be spot on anyways the 48 inch pipe somehow shifted and came loose Dave Jumped off the flat bed and was Crushed by the falling Pipe as it rained down like I said I’ve done it and you have to be quick as a Cat with reflexes and hand eye coordination it’s a ballet to watch but Life and Death if there’s a slippup unfortunately Dave wasn’t able to get out of the way - He was A Great Guy who went too soon RIP MR Hagar 😇🙏
-All of them. And some I’m still in contact with. Mr Weedmark was really a great musician when I was at Centenial him and his family used to take me to concerts in the summer
- Mrs. Miersma (Madame).....prenatal together ... then teaches my child......she was great with kids!!
-Jim Atkinson I remember him calling me by my last name and I stood up and said ‘’I have a first name’’ I loved Mrs Cowan she was a great teacher and Mrs Ball was and still is a sweet lady
-  Brings back a lot of memories from my years there in ‘67 & ‘68. Aside from my dad, teachers in this photo that were there then were Dave McNally, Dave Hagar, Jim Atkinson, Pat Ball, Jack Gudgeon, Florence Cowan. Dave Hagar left teaching a few years after this photo was taken and moved out to B.C. to work for a logging company where we heard that he was killed in a logging accident not long after.
-Mrs Taylor is in the track suit- who is the man on the top row, second from the right, who used to say ‘your pencils are getting noisy’ 🤣
-Stan Cathrae?
- Beth Murray Stan Cathrae for sure "people he's talking to you" when the announcements came on and we were too noisy. Still loved his class though
- He was a lovely man!
-Mr Warren, Mrs Miersma
- We won’t mention the huge advantage you hold over the regular ex students here. lol
- Mr. Haslett (sp?)middle row 2nd from left. Art
- All great teachers... but i have to say... Mrs Ball... the hottest teacher in there... i seen her a few years ago... she is still rocking it... thanks for the memories
- she is a beautiful looking woman 👩
-she was great teacher !! Glad to hear she is doing good
-anyone know how many of these teachers are still with us?
- these are the ones I know have passed away Mr. Weedmark, Mr. Haggar, Mr. Greig, Mr. Cathrae, Mr. Otto, Mrs. Graham, Mrs Riddal, Mrs. Moffat
- mr Dickson last August.
- Mr Otto died? 😳
-I dont see John Stopper
- John Stopper had left Centennial and he moved to Burkes Falls.
- Mr Dickson Passed on August 14th 2018 at the age of 95
-I had him for Grade 6 math.
- He kept me sane through 3 years of math. RIP sir, you were a great teacher.
-Mrs Cowan? Did she scare the shit out of me in gym class!
-Me too!
-Mrs Cowan still hangs around the Georgetown Mall. I saw chatter a few weeks ago. And Dave McNally and Jim hall are still in town
-So many great teachers; many fond memories.
- Mrs Bell the music teacher
-I loved her. She had to tell my class about the home Ec teacher who died in the MVC when I was in grade 6. Jim Do you remember her name?
-Mrs McCausland...Mr Otto and her were involved in an accident while driving to school...weather played a part
- Thanks Jim I didn't have her for a teacher.
- I cant remember the music teachers name but she used to invite me and Fany to her home in Toronto. Really good lady.
-Mrs. Bell
- Was it Mrs Bell or Miss Collison who took over mid term. Long time ago cant remember.
-She was one of my favourites... loved her class.
-Mr. Jefferson, Mrs Taylor, Mrs. Ball, McNally, Atkinson, Jim Hall, loving on Mr. Don Warren in this photo ( ha ha had to Jim!) Jack Gudgeon, Mr. Grigg, Mrs. Callaghan, Mr, Weedmark, Ron Chatten , Beth Murray, That is all I can say, yes Florence Cowan, for sure is Mrs Van Sickle in this pic??
-right hand side first row, blue pant suit

- Jim Atkinson hmm are you saying Beth is wrong Jimmy? 😉
-yes but do not tell her ...she is getting old you know
-Ok Jim. You are younger then I am ( by a month I think. big number this year) so I’ll concede you may be right
-Beth Murray no way Jim has to be older than you Beth xoxo 😉❤
-Love you for that Linda!
-Beth Murray xoxo ❤😉
- Mitchells married name was Cameron.
-Howard Weedmark became a great friend I was in his hole room for 3, years He used to take me to concerts with his family in the summer
- Weedmark was a very talented musician. There is no way I could or ever want to teach school music.
- My dad, back centre
- Andy Elliott I remember you dad from centennial and both your parents were members of St. John’s United

-Brings back a lot of memories. Our father immediately wanted to get one, but they weren't cheap!
-I remember the gyrocopter flying around town. My old scout leader, John Schwingschandle, who had a body shop in the industrial area, helped to work on this.
-John was a long time friend of our family. I remember him working on this at his shop where my dad worked.
-I remember going to his shop for scout meetings of some kind...Riteway autobody? I think it’s still there...
- I had forgotten the name of his body shop until you mentioned it. He took us to his shop a few times for occasional scout expeditions. One time we built an igloo out of snow blocks behind the shop. I worked for John for a few weeks in the summer of 1973 when he oversaw Masson’s body shop. I’ll always appreciate his mentorship.
- Use to see this fly over our farm on the 7th line
-Is that the service station at Guelph and Mountainview that burned down years ago.
-Yes I think you are right , it was called LINCOLN Als back in the day owned by the ZERLOF ( NOT SURE OF SPELLING )Family ...then it was Baz Motors , then Georgetown Volkswagen dealer ...was a gas bar as well at one time ...
-yes it is lived there when it burned down
-....certainly looks like it.....the one that housed Baz Motors at one time...... Volkswagen dealer.
-I used to fill up my 61 Chev there for 45 cents a gallon.
-Lincoln Motors owned and operated by Mr. Al Zaravlav! Sadly suffered a major fire and he closed down his business!
-I'd like one now,
back then they had flying cars and floating cars,
who needed the future we had it already, 😁
- Baz motors?
- yes

-Great Pic!
-Awesome pic
-Good to see the town was maintaining the grass, not much has changed 😎
-The grass was probably full of ashes. It would blow every where if you try to mow it.
-Had some great times there as a kid!!
-Remember the fun as a kid at the Grandstand.
-Great memories there!
- Great memories and also one sad day firecracker event !
-Sad that it was burnt down. Great time playing there a kid.
-What memories! Wow
-I remember that. I seem to remember it was a firecracker that burned the Roxy theater also.
- I don't ever remember a "roof" over it.
-Wow

-Early to mid 50s judging by the cars.
-Remember the bake shop in the second little building on the left
- Is that Sykes bakery on the left ?
-Was Sykes not the one in the corner of the Legion building?
-I thought so, and in later years it was on the Main Street.
-THE first little one was a taxie shop JACK MORROW ran it
-I REMEMBER LIVINGSTONE had the bake shop
-Yes they did Bud.
-TALLEST on the right had a light bulb that went on when some one called the cops/cops never had radios they would see the light on and then go to the station on the lower floor
- Looks like the fifties !!
- I remember the taxi office being in the first little building. Just barely. I was very small when we would take the taxi home after a day downtown. So I would say late 50s or so
-Fred Maveals White Rose Garage on right
-Yes Livingstons (was it called the Scottish bakery) ? Next to the Taxi place. Downstairs in the next brick building (at the side) the best Easter decorated chocolate eggs and Easter bunnies. Caderos ?
And Silvers. Yaaaaa.
- Livingston Bakery made the best icing on birthday cakes EVER.
-I love the cars and of course the whole picture.
-Also in Cadero's Building was a Pet Shop at one time & Huffy's Barber Shop. He did make the Best Easter Chocolates Gloria.
-my dad took over huffys barber shop in 1960
-we lived there in the 50[s. Huffy boarded with us for a bit.
-Building on left window with curtain open was mine and Brother Eion's bedroom. This picture is before that time mid sixties.
- 50s we think.
- More like late 50's, I remember this scene well, I was about 8 or 9 at the time
-we moved there there about 59 or 60,
it was like that then
they changed it shortly after that, to no angle parking,
we lived upstairs in the first brick building on the left,
he had a chocolate factory in the back of the building
my dad had a barbershop in the front for a few years, Wright's,
before moving around the corner to James street
-Ma's on the left. Some of the vehicles are late 40's.Looks like the old mans tow truck on the right.
-love it and remember so well!
-The best chocolate factory!
- Maveal’s White Rose on the right
-Thought that was a bakery on the left
- Livingston's Bakery was there. I was born in 1953 and remember the old town.
- He moved when that building burned down. Before my time
-One of the smaller buildings was a fish and chip place.
-I remember shopping at that "Silvers" store.
- My guess is early to mid-50s by the look of the models of the cars......where are all our car officiados?
-The truck in the foreground is from the 1940's, and I believe there is what looks like a small and older bus in the background...I would estimate the pic to be around 1958-59? That would place some of the cars at a year or two old.
- Silvers clothing store left
-Used to be an ally beside Silvers Singers on the other side. Wades restaurant beside Singers. The Joes Tuck Shop
-Early 1950’s by the look of the cars
- Bell taxi on the left Jim Bell
-there was also a chocolate shop in behind
-yes, lived upstairs from there, in the apartment,
my dad had a barber shop (Wrights) downstairs till he moved around the corner on James,
-oh I remember nice to chat with someone who remembers the choc, shop ,my Dad used to buy choc, there all the time for my Mom ! And great big Choc, Bunnies solid Lol
-yes, used to get a few free chocolates ;-)
was one of the places I'd visit during my day ;-)

-I worked there back in the days
-Not the best pic. but it's the only one i have
-Loved that place.
-I worked there for a little while for Al Cock
-Worked there part-time, night shift. I believe it was the summer of 1975.
- Good times working there.
-I remember when Jake's auto service was in the garage there
-Is it not there anymore? Never mind, I'll find out for myself in a few days, lol.
-It has sat empty for so long they should expand Armstrong Terrace on it :)
-I worked nights there in 1976 I believe it was
-Bud was just telling John Doherty about this pic —he worked for Doug for a few years
- I forgot about the Sunoco.
- I used to use that shop quite a bit!!
-I had a gas account there for years
-First real job was working there
-Worked there in the 90’s boss would bring us turbo booster in winter.. those little shot bottles from the LC lol
- 2 bucks of gas there would tour us around town for the afternoon 😀 when we should have been in school.
- 5 bucks would tour up and down Younge St...lol
-great service
- I worked there for 6 years, when it was Pronto then as an agent when it changed to Sunoco

-did them when I was there.. guess the teachers in the 80s were more fun.. not that I liked school or anything ..lol
