  • Great buffet
  • Awesome buffet.
  •  Best buffet around
  • You're right Jane.
  • The Best in town , did lots of dishes there lol
  •  Had many many Christmas company dinners and family events there. Great food. Never left hungry. George, Linda and Nick were always great to me
  • Were the punch-ups, knife fights and other assaults part of the entertainment?
  • as a repeat customer at the buffet and bar I never saw a knife fight and hardly ever saw a dust up or assault in all my years.I played hockey, baseball and darts for the Gib and against them. The boys were always Gentlemen
  • Can happen at any bar when you mix the wrong people with alcohol. Don't be negative. Find something nice to say.
  • Great lunches on Thursday & Friday

  •  Great memories of Georgetown.
  •  Looks like the Lairds house on the left.
  • Reminds me of the year they paved Queen, then,, ripped it all up, to put in the sewer system.
  • Always beautiful in winter time!I know the spot exactly!
  •  Sure looks like Queen St, think those stairs are still there, lol
  • The house on the right has an indoor pool. Jenna's friend lived there. It was amazing!

  •  I remember when the Water Plant looked like this....
  • Merry Christmas to all in Georgetown. My grandfather Ed (Dutchy) Beerman, who worked for the water department, constructed most of this display and put it up every year with the help of some co-workers.

  • Home of the Rebels
  •  You’re goddam right, Joe!!
  •  Rebels forever!
  • lways a Rebel!
  •  wanted to say the high school, but wasn't sure
  •  Rebels once, Rebels twice ....
  • I want to the school in 73-77 and didn’t realize there was an addition
  • they finished the pool in 75 Or 76 I think. I was 70-75 and was used Year after I left
  • oh the pool was the edition??? Now I remember
  • God I'm old!😎
  • Baaaahhhaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaa
  • i finished high school in June 1974 and they hadnt started the addition yet then
  •  There were 2 additions I believe, this one is the library/cafetorium one in early 70’s, the pool was later, sometime after I left in the mid to late 70’s or even early 80’s?
  •  it was done 76
  • there were several parts to this Doug I guess. I forgot about cafetorium section that I used throughout school . Took it for granted lol and just remember being annoyed pool was under construction but not open until I returned for homecoming lol
  •  was there not one before that remember making paper planes and hanging out of the upper windows trying to put the planes into the windows in other part of building . that was in the late 50`s
  • I graduated in 73 and it was there for most of my years at GDHS, you could skip class, sign a book out of the library and claim you were working on a project😎
  •  I graduated in ‘69 (oh God) and they were finishing up and an addition when I was in grade 9. I remember looking out at lots of scaffolding in history class!
  • Graduated in '68.......the only addition that I remember was in Stonewall Jackson's Math class.lol
  •  I started in Sept 69 and remember it being built.
  •  I finished in 1972 and I remember the addition.
  • I was in grade 9 the year it was finished. They couldn't heat the whole building in the winter because of the construction, so we were told to "wear whatever keeps you warm", so that's when all of us girls started to wear blue jeans to school instead of dresses and skirts. Up until then we weren't allowed.
  •  and when we were back to full heat they tried to make us go back to dresses and skirts and we said "NFW", the first of many times😎
  • I remember that as well Linda. Seems rather archaic. I remember Math class in the hall across from the old cafeteria which is where that addition was being built. I doubt that they would be allowed to send students to an unheated school these days!
  • remember that too but I was annoyed that pool opened year after I left
  • It was the best year ever when we started the new blue jean phase for all the schools

I had my picture taken with him out side Youngs when I worked there
  •  I was in the crowd watching. He signed autographs in front of Youngs.
  • I got to talk to him for a minute,
  • My engagement ring came from that jewelry store.
  • Still have many pieces from Boughton’s. Donna and I would buy a pair of pierced earrings every “payday” Saturday.
Boughtons were also neighbours for many years on Main St.
  • Loved Boughten Jewellers. The daughter helped me with a surprise for my mother. I was shopping with my mom and we were looking at family rings. My mom loved one in particular. Candy, I think was her name, following my crazy faces from behind my mothe…See More
  • I remember riding our bikes behind in the crowds. My sister and I were extras: we spent the entire morning decorating our bikes with red, white and blue!! I think my mother swooned when she saw him!! :)
  • Went to school with Candy. A nice person. She passed away quite a few years ago. Another friend gone too soon.
  • Yes, Candy was a great gal. She always had a smile on her face. She had an older sister who also worked in the store. Really nice looking, can't recall her name. Mrs. Boughten was also a lovely looking lady.
  • Betty Carey Fleming John Margot Candy and Nikki.
  • Thanks Gloria. They were a lovely family.
  • it’s nice to recall these old old memories.
  • Candy married Mike Armstrong from Milton. They are all gone now. Sad. Her sister was Nicki. Or Nikki.
  • I lived above the old bank when this was being made. Got to watch it all.
  • I waited downtown just to see Micheal and did not see him... very disppointed
  • My sister Mary live on Church st at the time and was expecting her second child. He ran into her and gave her quite a knock. She received an apology with a very large bouquet of roses from him.
  • I saw him and he was very close

  • The horse and buggies wow Guelph st was just one lane then
  • Was that Nobles dairy?
  •  yes it was.
  • Can someone please tell me where this was?
  • corner of Maple and Guelph sts..
  • I remember seeing the trucks & the horse drawn ones as well delivering milk etc. around town .
  • That was at corner of guelph st and maple avenue
  • I think it's a lawyer office now. Kentucky fried chicken was next door
  • Our first field trip from Chapel street walked up to the Georgetown Dairy. Got a tour and ice cream.
  •  Wow. This picture is a treasure , sure brings back memories!
  • The best icecream cones 🎉🎉
  •  Best cones. Love the delivery trucks
  •  That goes a long way back. The milk was in glass bottles and in the winter , the cream would sometimes freeze out of the top.
  •  I was telling about the “milk man” and horse cart just the other day. Love this
  • Was that owned by Ed Tyers?
  • I am friends with his granddaughters - knew their Dad well!!
  •  we moved into Mr.Tyers home in 1981 so i am always interested in any information. Not the original one on the corner but his second home next door for just he and his wife.
  •  We are at 24 Delrex Blvd. Like I mentioned we are next door to Mr. Tyers original house
  • I remember milk delivery. Our delivery man was named Mel. Because our Dad worked at the dairy and knew Mel, he sometimes stopped in for a cup of coffee. I’m not sure Irwin Noble would have approved.
  • I believe your milk delivery man's name was Mel Taylor.
  • Wow before KFC and the old gas station
  •  My wife  grew up in the area and remembers the horses
  • I totally remember the horse drawn milk wagons when I was a kid.. Thank you so much for posting a treasured childhood memory.. Merry Christmas!
  • My husband worked there in the 1960's
  • I remember going there for lunch on Fridays with my friend Lorna Nicholson. We always ordered a hamburger and homemade coconut cream pie.
  • I remember the horse drawn milk wagon , waking up early Saturday morning so I could feed the horses sugar cubes.
  • I would give everything to go back to sweet and simple times like that.
  • Another great memory..thanks Bonnie!
  • I remember that as well. Best pie ever!!!
  • Oh the memories
  •  blvd. boys would go in on a hot day, each bought a 'brick' of ice cream and a jar of topping, then enjoyed in the field behind the dairy bar. that was a loonngg time ago
  • Great memories.....thanks for posting!
  • About once a week mom would give us enough to get a Sandwich and a pint of Chocolate Milk for lunch it was real close to Wrigglesworth :)
  • Lemon Ciffon Ice cream !
  •  Jim Edwards and Carman Maltby both worked for Mr Noble in the late 50`s and 60`s
  • We had milk delivery bye those horse drawn wagons Bill Handy
  • Best ever strawberry milkshakes! <3
  • Good picture !
  •  I have these old milk tokens from way back .says maple leaf dairy on it..Anyone remember these
  •  Georgetown dairy had aluminium tokens
  • This is great. I wish I could've lived this era
  •  My favorite ( after Kay´s, between Wrigglesworth and the high school) after-school stop! Couldn´t count the number of milkshakes and/or cones I enjoyed at their milk-bar. Paid off after a while, because A_Lorraine and I went out for a good while....and we were a couple at the Prom as well. Anyone remember the absolutely awful photos the pro photographer took at these proms? In the decorated gym, "Evening in Paris", I believe.... and a smashing Kool-Aid fruity punch... and then the trips outside for a real punch!
  •  Loved going there every Saturday for sundae! Oh for the slim days back when that was possible 😝
  • No one believed me when I said our milk was delivered by horse and cart...... have been lying about my age for a while now. Lol. I would love running out with a carrot to feed old ginger..... Also remember our egg man who would just let himself in if we weren't home and put the eggs in the fridge. Mom would leave the money on the table for him.
  • My Grandparents egg lady was Mrs. Stark... we always called her Mrs. Stork... she looked a little like a stork..
  • Mrs. Stark delivered to us as well, every Saturday morning.
  •  Look at the old trucks & I remember the horse & wagons too,Linda!
  •  we had the horse and wagon also ,I would ride with them sometimes . The driver was Mr. Len Murdock from Glen Williams , would ride to the stables at Maple Ave dead end.
  • I remember the horse drawn wagons on Chapel Street. The milkman would deliver a wooden case of bottles milk to our house a Christmas. We drank a lit of milk. Remember how the milk would freeze and the cream push out the top of the bottle!
  • You are right Johnny that was the best $0.35 i ever spent!!
  •  Dairy had a wonderful ice cream maker, my dad Lester Henderson. They made delicious peach ice cream. It’s hard to find peach ice cream now and whenever I do, it’s never as good. 😄
  •  used to love helping him make the ice cream
  • Ahhh maybe it was your help Mary that made the ice cream so good.
  • Where was this located?
  •  this was located at the corner of Guelph Street n Maple Avenue , across from the POST OFFICE in GEORGETOWN ...
  • Remember getting a ride up the street when young. loved horses
  • At the corner of Guelph and Mountainview, I believe
  •  exactly. SE corner !
  • Went there often and then worked at the back when it was Bill Smith's Auto Parts
  • Vivid memories of going there for ice cream..great place!!
  • My Mother worked there in the evenings from 6-10 pm after my youngest brother was born. I was 10 1/2-11 when she started. It was my job to put him to bed, so she could work 😊
  •  I don't think I knew that Linda.
  • He had a different special flavour of ice cream every week!!
  • My mom Lorrine From worked at the dairy for many years
  • Corner of Maple?
  • Yes
  • Owned by Joy and Irwin Noble, used to be on Main St. Where Goodfellas is now located.
  • I remember my mom telling me that I walked from College St, up to the Dairy, pushing my doll carriage (my mom was following me to see where I was going) and it was to see Rita Bain who worked there. Her husband Clarence was the stationery engineer at the high school back in the early 1950's. I often wonder if their daughter Gloria is still alive.
  • Best milkshakes!

  • which one is supposed to be Peggy? I don't see any resemblance
  •  spoke to Peggy, she says the girl is a Peggy Taylor, who lived on King street. I’ve kept a copy Of the pic because Suzanne lives here in Guelph, I might run into her and I’ll see her sister in January, she will get a kick out if it.
  •  I worked at the booth at the pool and saved my money to buy my roller skates. I loved roller skating.
  •  They used to play 🎶 "Green Eyed Lady " 🎶 by Sugarloaf once an Hour ! Still my favorite song that always brings back good old memories ! Dan 💎🎸
  •  I clearly remember the sound of wheels.....not really audible when just casually skating around the rink.....but when either of two upbeat tunes were played on the house system.... Satisfaction, and California Sun...(Rivieras, 1964)... .....the whole arena floor was like a huge electric motor...a dynamo.....spooling up to high speed.....you could hear the sound of the skate wheels increase as we all went into top gear.... Anytime I hear either of those tunes 50+ years later, I always think about roller skating at Memorial. I loved going there Thursday, Friday, and especially Sat. when the Deadbeats would play on the centre stage. Dave Booth singing, looking like Buddy Holly. I used to skate with my future wife, Joy, and would get ticked when Kent Robinson would cut in. On Saturday nights, it seemed the whole high school was at the arena.....as easy place to socialize and meet girls. Can still see Alister Blair, his skates not tied to the top eyelets, the skate tongue fashionably hanging out towards the toe, yet he could make his skates fly in all directions and still maintain control. I'd tuck in behind him and try to copy his moves. By the time the evening was over, I'd have a blister on the inside of my right arch, no matter what socks I wore....but would be back there the next night...with the blister popped, a bandage over it. In that pic, I see Brad Bennett on the far right. Looks like Andrea in centre. That does look like Rob Saxe. And the fellow on the left facially looks like a small Pete Laval.....but yes, likely Alex. Another guy looks like Mike Pratt, just behind perhaps Tom Quinn in the black glasses. Skating at Memorial became more technical when groups from out of town would arrive, especially a half dozen superb skaters from Kitchener's Bingeman Park. Those skaters had moves none of us had seen before.  We went up to Bingeman a few times and saw them 'couples skating/dancing', and it changed my attitude from hotdogging to skating as couples on slow numbers. Also went once to the big hardwood floor skate place in Toronto....the Terrace....most skaters there danced in couples.  There I learned the format..the figure eight, the outside turn going into the corner, the inside turn leading to the next corner turn. I can't recall when roller skating stopped at Memorial, but I continued into my twenties at The Bramalea arena, 1967-69.
  • Do you think the pretty dark haired girl with the ponytail could be Lynn Crocker ?
  • I remember very well pretty dark haired Lynn Crocker.....had a secret crush on her......she was fairly tall.....but I think that is Andrea.....Pauline Armitage used to skate a lot, but I don't recognize her from that photo. And I think I am wrong about Tom Quinn.
  • to me the girl ID'ed as Pauline I think was is Peggy Taylor she lived on King Street :)
  • I think the boy with the glasses towards the back looks like Bob Smith.
  •  Wow yea I remember roller skating at the arena loved it
  •  That’s the year I started roller skating. And Im pretty sure that’s Lynn Crocker. She was my neighbour I had it bad for her. Haha. I was 9.
