-Only recognize one face so far....looks like George Gras by ...front ,3rd front left
-Zelek McCandless, Bud Haines, John Haines, Junior Beaumont.
-#11 is my dad, Lenny Caruso, Zeke on the crutches, Junior Beaumont #7
-Thought that was Lennie but never knew he played for Georgetown. Is that kid holding a beer???
-The lacrosse box was on the corner of Mountainview (a dirt road) and Sargent (used to go play there)- i think it was made into a rink one winter also?
-All the names are familiar but can't place the faces. Before my time.
-Before my time too... ;)
-I was 19 or 20. where're the names?
-2nd from left back row, is that Don Anderson?
-This team predates the lacrosse at Mountaiinview
-I think the box on Sargeant was mainly built for the kids. The seniors probably played at the arena.
-Shel Lawr and Harold Bairstow were among the ones who built the box at Mountainview and Sinclair.
-Now that I think - we moved to G'town (ironically - Bairstow Cres) in '56 and that box was there sometime in my early years there. Where did the team play before its construction - the arena?
-That would be my best guess. I didn't come to town until '63. Shel was the one that told me about the box and that he and my uncle had worked on it.
-There were several awesome folks that put in countless hours building the lacrosse box and then giving of their team to teach and coach us kids, some the men besides Shel & Harold that come to mind are my dad Jerry Fendley, my Uncle Herb Robinson, Uncle Cecil Smith, Uncle Pete Fendley, Uncle Wes Fendley, Roy Norton Sr. Roy Norton Jr, Mr Richardson, Roy Snell, and several others. To those folks I wish to say thank you (y)
-Glad to hear the names of others who were involved. As with many small communities many people get involved in projects that benefit the community as a whole.
-I think the lacrosse was just organized in those early years so they didn't have any official place to play Dad (Herb Robinson) got Uncle Cecil Smith to dig the post holes. Uncle Cecil had a fencing business in Stewarttown. I rescued some papers about the lacrosse when dad did one of his basement cleanouts. Dad used to order the sticks from Brantford, unstrung because they were cheaper. They were sent on the train and picked up at George town station. He and a couple of other men would then string them. Don, somewhere I've got a terrific picture of Bruce in a goalie suit.
-My dad, Gordon (Pete) Miller was also involved and helped to coach the young teams. We moved to Sargent Road in 1958.
-Junior Beaumont #7, John Haines #19, Bud Haines #18, Tom Haines (coach) far right.
-I too help build the box on SINCLAIR all with RED ASLTINE- PERK- ROY NORTON (both jr. and sr.) ROY SNEAL- HAROLD BAIRSTOW (I HELP HIM COACH THE LITTLE ONES )cant remember others /THERE WERE 2 OTHER MEN WHO PLAYED FOR PETERBROUGH there could be others cant think of them
-Great picture. Related to quite a few!
-guy with the crurtches looks familiar but nothing comes to mind. My uncle Erinie Thompson use to play quite a bit. remember watching him, Gord Fricker and George Grasby play in Norval if you did not have eyes in the back of your head YOU TOOK A LOT OF "HEAVY HITS FROM THE THE THREE AMIGOS . Pretty sure ZEKE McCANDLESS (sp) playes with the team also. When I saw them play it was in NORVAL bottom of the hill left hand side back in I think near the creek that we passed over at the bottom of the hill on number #7 highway
-very near there but it was on the other side of the creek and back behind a school I THINK
-Sounds like the right spot. Norval P.S. is there and a ball diamond behind it. That is it used to be a school. It's a preschool now.
-Zeke is the guy on crutches.
-Bob that was many many years ago my uncle Erinie and Gord Fricker were two guys that played a pretty tough game they seem to have been quite selective in using the solid wood boards around the field to pin as many players from the other team as they could between them and the wooden wall especially if they noticed the other guy looking the other way . It was lights out many times i think
-Zeke was my coach in georgetown minor hockey LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG time ago
-zeke on crutches jack
