-There's lines on the pavement now... One of our family homes is in the background, #20. There's a lot less trees there now.
-Yes
-Lived in the upper apartment 55 yrs ago.
-My parents lived in this house when they first got married
-This house sits vacant I'm pretty sure. Rooms look empty and the side door was a little open for half a year.
-Memories of walking across the tracks from King Street with my Mom to visit the Saunders clan...
-I was in the area last week and did not see a lot of love or money on some of the houses we lived in.
-There was a garage across the road. Not sure if it's still there
-That place has been empty for s long time, a few yrs. someone's missing out on a lot of rental income, just wondering why???
-Go Transit probably wants to buy it, or already has bought it.
-There was a private "for sale" sign on the front door for about three days last yr and then it disappeared.
-Thanks for doing this..brings back lots of memories
-The old stomping grounds! Lived at 7 John for years!
-It a shame it has been empty for so long!
-who owns it now? Is it for sale? :)
-Great location I think lived in that area for years :)
-When Mrs Saunders had the store I was allowed to walk over and get a rolled ice cream cone. Chocolate. Nice Memory
-Definitely the old Saunders Store, my husband and family grew up there! Thanks
-We lived across the street and next door, for my years on John Street. That part of town has history and memories.
-That house has been empty for quite some time. I talked with a man cutting the grass one time a couple of years ago, he said he bought it as an investment and got bored with it. I did see that for sale sign also.
-Delivered the Toronto Star to that house, also attended at least one party there.
-I coached a kid in minor hockey who lived there.I cannot remember their name, but their Dad was part deaf .
-Don’t know who owns it now but I wish they would do something with it. My parents built it 1941 and ran the store until 1959 then they turned it into apartments. In 1965 Larry and I rented the front bottom apartment. A lot of great memories there, it’s sad to see it now.
-My family homestead didn't do much better. Looks like the same vinyl siding guy was working both sides of the street. In 1925 it was Forster's store. The chimney Dad built when we lived there is still standing. There is a brick building behind the plastic.
-was the street number there?
-grandmother lived in the white bungalow next door (its in the background of the photo) and it was 20 John Street, East. We moved from 29, the side with the bow window, across the street to 20. It was not a store at the time of the move.
-what number was Saunders house/store
-I can't remember, that is the even side of the street. 22 or 24 maybe. It had an extra wide lot, with a garage at the side for years. 25 was across from 20.
-John Street had an east and west then
-I am thinking this photo is early 40's, My mother is standing in front of 25 John with the store in the background. Twenty was built behind that big maple tree.
24 John St
-nice picture of your mom and grandma that is also a great picture of our store in the back ground (24 John st east) the store across the street 25 John st east was built in 1900 ours was built in 1941.
-MPAC shows it (24) was built in 1900, and our homestead 29/31 John was built in 1910. The right (31) was as store in 1925, and residence (29) side. We lived there in the 70's. Our corner has history!
-We lived up stairs in this building , in the mid 80s , the REES family lived down stairs at that time ...
-24 John St. was Saunders store
-Thanks —definitely a landmark for me ....grew up at 47 John....there used to be a little confectionary in that building in the 60’s
