-The Farmer's Bank, built in 1907, failed in 1910. Metropolitan Bank purchased the building, later merging with the Bank of Nova Scotia. The branch closed in 1931. It was also the gallery and studio for David Vance, a local painter. The vault was still there during that time.
-There was a name on it, a reference from an LMMontgomery novel. I’d often wondered about the connection.

-Of course. We all know of our famous resident. Prior to Adamson’s Spa there was a literary reference above the door. I’m 90% certain it was “Windy Poplar”
-Anyone know why the reference on the building? Local historians??
-The house connects to the bank. The bank manager didn't have far to go to work!
-The main floor of the house next door was actually a stable, according to sources that once owned it.
-It was the "Corner Store" when I was growing up, I remember the water filled chest type pop machine.
-I remember the corner store too. We would walk down the hill to buy candy.
-Awww Martha and Bill. RIchardsons candy store 🙂 fond memories of that place along with mud washing the brick walls after a good rain storm 🙂 mom are us kids that helped wash it all off then Martha came out with ie cream cones for us Lolol.

-A person never went hungry when they owned the store even if no money food was always handed over 🙂

-Nelson Robinson purchased the bank in the 1930 and operated a butcher shop and grocery store. the Robinson family lived in the house attached to the shop. Never heard of this location being a stable. Ken lived here with his family until 1946. New owners purchased for a corner store.

-Under all that stucco is a brick building
-The post office was two doors down from the corner operated by the carters. The house next door to the corner store was owned by Nelson robinson from about 1926 until the bought the bank building
-DID the RICHERSONS own a store in NORVAL
-Hi Yes it was my Grandparents that owned the General store in Norval
-I have my baby book, its signed love the Richardson's, I'm sure it was your grandparents, I was born in 61, my Aunt & Uncle, Joan & Bud Carter, lived 2 doors down and ran the post office
-Carney's hardware was across the st. On the corner. Also Carney's electric.

-It is very haunted and there is still the bank vault in it Also there is a well in the basement . Rumour had it that a former bank manager had a heart attack in the vault while locked in and passed away. There was also a reported tunnel linking all four corners of the street in an underground room where probation Alcohol was hidden for some famous gangster in the states who would smuggle it over the border.
-I grew up in Norval so did my Dad and his family, never heard any of this??

-I Lived in the house beside the store or bank it wasn't haunted ,or connected to the bank , we put new lines along the walks of the driveway, solid clay, there was a well in the basement that went dry every summer,I was told my house was a butcher shop at one time at the front of the house
