-Just how long has Fred's Been there??
-Back in the 50's it was a Dairy.I can remember the milk truck coming to our farm and picking up the milk we shipped in the old style 10 gal milk cans
-Freezer space was rented out in this location in 50's - not sure if it was in connection to the dairy
-I think Saxes owned it at one time they graded eggs there many years ago lol
-Creamery was owned and operated by Morris (Moe) Saxe. It was destroyed in a major fire that included his son Dave's Chrysler Dealership.
-can comment on this. His dad and grandfather owned it in the 40's and 50's
-Wow really? I didnt know that! That's cool!
-THERE was a body shop the first shop it was run by BUD BRINKLO[SP] had work done there [in the 50s
-The original body shop was run by Don Brinklow. Fred worked for Don for a long time then we bought the property in early sixties. Built the new part in the early eighties;
-If i am not mistaken it use to be run by Roy ? In the sixties i use to keep my pony in the basement around the back until i moved him ti Moores farm

-Deb and Marg can give you the history of that place from day 1. There is far too much history for me to remember. Debbie Layton has some awesome pics also.
-Did Art Speight ever have anything to do with that building?
-MJ I don't believe Art had anything to do with the building. He owned the house in between CTC and this building. We lived upstairs there until I was 5.
-I knew he owned the house, couldn't remember about the other.
-That is where the lake was, once up a time. That same creek when it had coloured water from the paper mill comes out by Well 6 and the pumping station.
-the signout front says since 1958
-Was there not a radiator / welding shop there mid 70's?
-And a car lot......bought my first car car there......Bob Philips Used Cars I think.......early '70
-Bob Philips....did he have a son named Rick
-Margaret, what year did you and Fred move into this building from the one on the corner across the road?
-I remember stopping in there when I was driving tractor trailer, Fred was in the shop and just bought a bulldozer I think, asked him what he was planning to do with it, his answer was; "never had one and wanted it!" We laughed! He always treated me good and loved to joke around, a really great guy! I remember my dad and him joking with each other all the time!
-Hi Robert nice to hear from you. Mom and Dad sold the body shop and we moved to a mobile home back on the original property in the late 70's and dad started building the new place we moved into the new house in Dec of 1980. This year we (Fred's) are going to be celebrating our 60th anniversary Dad would of been so proud.
Awesome Debbie yes he would have been a happy fella.
-apparently Fred bought this building from my grandfather Raymond "Pops" Bowers around 1950 and then my grandfather moved across the street and ran a dodge and desoto dealership until 1958 when he was killed in a car accident in Rockwood
-No Steve we bought the property from Rope Construction back in early sixties.
-ok Margaret i understand now
-Yes Steve, your grandfather did own the white building..the Bowers name was visible on the east side for many years. There was a fire in the building and then they moved across the street into a new building which has been since torn down. It was the Gain gas station in the '70's and 80's. It later became a convenience store. There are many stories to be told about the two properties. Randy has an article about Pop and the garage published in the Georgetown Herald on July 7 1990 by Steamer Emerson where he speaks about Bowers motors Ltd and was a Chrysler Plymouth dealership
-I know my 1st car ended up there...towed from the 401...when the red hose broke n messed my engine!!!
-I can’t believe it’s still there!
