-There's those darn street lights that would come on!!! ;-)
-Playground for Jones, Turnbull, Ryall families. I remember one winter skating on the road!
-There enough of us in our 3 families. Hahahaha. Neighbourhood full of playmates!
-That the street I grew up on for ten years
-We moved to George Street (#20) in 1971 and my parents were in that house until 1996. I often used to get this joke when I gave my address as George Street, Georgetown: "It's a good thing your name isn't George"😂. I've heard a few times from older people that at one time it was commonly known as Top Street, I guess because it's at the top of that first hill from downtown, and there wasn't too much beyond there at that time.
-Bud Kentner used to call it Ballinafad Road because of the farmers who used to live there from 'the Fad'.
-Good to know, I never heard that one.
-Think the house we lived in has a big addition on the side of it. Was a nice house back in the day
-Yes that beautiful house replaced the old renovated garage My parents, and my sister and I lived in. :-) I think the our OLD garage house was bought by whoever did the beautiful build on that property. Neat! :-)
-Makes me home sick
-Old stomping grounds, close to the churchill st. gang.Yes there were gangs back then but mostly to play road hockey against etc. There was also the station house gang.
-I think Linda Arthur's lived on this street , does anyone remember her, went to school with her, also the Stamp twins who lived on Churchill Crew,Judy and Janette
-Yes Linda Arthurs did live on George St, Barb. A really nice girl.
-I wonder what happened to her,I know one of the Stamp girls Judy passed away quite a few years agl
-Linda Arthurs passed away also
-I did not know that Wayne, had not heard, she was such a nice person, so many no longer here
-Was not sure Barb so did not want to say anything. Might be on The Remembrance Site Barb.
-I hung around with Linda when we were 15. She was very nice & very beautiful. She had the most beautiful blue eyes like her dad. She had a brother named Robert. She passed away quite a while ago.
-My old street
-yes i remember Linda Arthur, I also lived on Churchill Cres. We lived beside the Armstrongs.
-I knew the Stamp girls worked at S&S with them many years ago.
-I also worked with them at S & S, way back when,I know Janette married a dentist and lived in Brampton, don't remember who Judy married but I know she passed away quite a few years ago
-We lived next door to Lynda's parents. Sadly her husband and son also passed away before she did.
-My parents bought an old renovated garage on George St. we lived in it1964? we lived next door to a Mrs Brown and her son.....She made really great cookies. YUM!. In 1967 we moved to Tweedle street in the Glen.
-Grace and Danny
-THAT"S right That was his name Danny. I was only allowed to call Grace Mrs. Brown. I was only 3 LOL
-Yes Kathleen, we were across the road from that. I remember Grace Brown well, she passed away a few years ago in Thunder Bay, where she had moved to be near her son. In the late 70s she sold that dwelling and a new house went up in its place.
-She was such a lovely lady. Thank you Dave for that information.
-I remember a nice house across the street from us I don't know how old you are, but I am 56 and I remember riding my bike with a few kids from around there.
-I'm 61. We moved on to the street in 1971, so you may have moved to the Glen by then.
-Yes we did. Glad Mrs Brown had such great neighbours and she is well remembered. :-)
-We bought our house from the Dewars, maybe you remember them. There were 4 kids - Gerry, David, Yvonne, and Debbie.
-I played with the Dewars - fell out of a tree in their backyard!!!!! And lived to tell the tale!!!! Oh George Street!!!
-Oh yeah, it must have been the apple tree in the back yard. I think my dad ended up taking it down eventually.
-I remember lots of kids of all ages around back then, but for the life of me don't remember the names :-(
-I remember; my Aunt Marg, Neil,Sean Tost lived on Draper Street and my teacher, Miss Campbell lived on George Street
-Miss Campbell was our neighbour. And her mother.
-Nice lady, Miss Campbell. I cut her lawn for a number of years and helped her when she moved into an apartment on Raylawn. Which house were you in Gloria, was it the red brick one to the west of Miss Campbell, I'm thinking #15 as I think Miss Campbell was #11 and they probably wouldn't have had a #13.
-nope. 9. And then we moved to the corner. 62 main st Where my dad had his tire business beside. Many 'happy days" memories.
-lived at 32 Churchill Cres
-I lived at 8 Churchill the house has now been torn down as I understand it was the house at the end of the street beside the cenotaph.
-my Grand Parents the Melansons lived on this street too and hung around there with Debbie Telford for years
-And at my house sometimes too!!!!! Early 70's
-I remember your grandparents. They lived in a little white house at the corner of Draper Street. It looked to like it actually faced Draper Street but I think it did have a George Street address.
-yes Laura Give hung out with me a lot when we lived beside you hahah
-I remember well!!!
-Beautiful Lady.Linda Arthur's.
-Yes she was Sandra.
-My family (Don and Barb (Beerman Wood), Cindi and Bobbi Squire) lived at 16 George from 1972 to 1988. My cousin Darlene (Beerman) and Peter Moss bought from us when we moved to Ottawa. My grandparents (Ed (Dutchy) and Gladys Beerman) lived at #16 from 1946. We bought the house from him.
