-OMG!!! How I remember that when we lived on Confederation St. (# 48) !!! Our front yard would be full of these ice chunks!!
-When I worked for the town, we used to hire Mike Marko to dynamite the ice jams. Mike would walk out the ice to set the charge, scary thing was He had a wooden leg, so we'ed be a little concerned with Him being out there.
-Remember this well there was a couple of years when our kids could not go to school they used to blast the river with dynamite our whole house would shake people from all over would call me to watch there used to be a house in the ballpark they took a lady out of there in a rowboat later the fire department burnt it down for fire practice
-I remember this too! The ice used to come almost right up to our house. We lived at the other end, near the "Old Sock Mill" on 600 Main St.
-I remember those days too.
-Had lot of fun on the ice burgs ...Dad told us not to go near the water ...yep you know that didn't happen ..lol.
-i remember those days , we lived up on the hill by the cemetery.
-Wow
-I remember this happening in the 70's so at least until then :)
-I also remember those days - my mom has old pictures of the flooding and the large ice bergs! We lived on main street between the two bridges
-Great picture AND it answers a question I had. For some reason earlier this week I was trying to remember if Preston's had gas pumps at one time. There they are!
-We have a video my dad took of the floods and ice burgs
-We lived there from '72 until '75 and had flooding like that every spring! In fact, when we sold the house in early '75 (moved out in April), there was water right up to the front porch!
-I remember that well,
-Remember getting gas at Prestons think I was 7...lol
-We lived in Terra Cotta and I was in high scholars so it had to be before 1964. I remember they had to blast to break it up.
-Remember them very well
