-Year?...Is that the old high school and St Georges in the distance?
-No idea sorry
-yes.. roof of the high school in the distance ..
-I was thinking that was the old High School.
-yes it is..
-This gravel street is probably smoother than Guelph st is today!
- Wow! I love this. Do you know approximately what year it is?
-no sorry I don't
-Wish I could see my old house which is on the right before the intersection.
-Beautiful trees, but a lot of wooden homes and buildings that burned down easily
-Georgetown seems to be able to tear down wooden homes without any fires.
-There was an article in the Georgetown Herald about planting all the Maple trees. It was a series by C.W. Young probably in the 1920's. The trees were on both sides of the street right up Main St (going the other direction from this shot) and went at least as far as Kennedy Street. The widening of Hwy 7 took tare of most of them along Guelph and Main St. Also many houses on Main North were torn down as far as the White Bridge.
-I miss the willow trees that I grew up with. Not too many on the lake where we live now.
-766 Guelph St as the bottom of the picture says is in Norval.
-But it's Georgetown.. you can see the top old High school in the distance
- I see Guelph St. Georgetown at the bottom of the photo.
-Definitely not Norval, in fact I can see the top of the old Georgetown High School on the right top side of the picture. I graduated from that school in l954 and they tore it down shortly after that.
-So we are on the top of the hill looking east??
- yes
-No idea sorry
