-I went there for kindergarten and grade one in the mid 70’s. I feel like the principal was named Gibbons, but I could be wrong.
-Mr Gibson
-Thank you! I knew it was similar but couldn’t remember... too many years ago.. LOL
-Joe Gibbons was one of our most popular mayors.
-Thank you. I hadn’t realized that.
-I lived across the road and watched that school being built.
-Went there for grade 6 the year the school opened. Teacher was Peter Laycock if I'm remembering correctly.
-I remember Mr Laycock standing on his desk and YELLING “Shut up” on a Friday, long weekend LOL
-I wonder where he ended up?
-He was my favourite teacher there.
-Went there for kindergarten with Mrs Cleave in 1980 I think...
-Yes we did.
-Went there for grade 2, the year it opened. Who remembers the song “Joseph Gibbons our new school”
-Don't remember the song.
Now you've dated yourself.....you were a year behind my brother Andrew.
-I was in the first kindergarten class in 1970 when the school opened. 😊
-Mrs Cleave she was my kindergarten teacher. We were bussed from Centennial School.
-Me too. I think you were a year or so ahead of me. I think I was there in 1975. I had Ms. Ruddle for grade one
-I had her for grade one as well!
-She put that I’m a chatterbox on my report card... she wasn’t wrong... LOL
-This was an open concept school when it first opened ..... I believe one of the first in Halton ......if you were in grade 4 and there was a grade 5 class sitting next to you, osmosis took place and you could soak up all you wanted or nothing!
-And you learned to concentrate in a noisy environment 😊
-My first school in Georgetown, open concept.
-Im not sure, but I think the population was 1500, just guessing on that one
-The only teacher I can recall was Mrs Mersma,I don't think I spelt that right, or she was at Centennial school
-Was there not a Mr Logan?
-Yes Me Logan and two Miss McNiell’s !
-Mr Gibson
