-Hasn't changed too much
-No when I was there 2 years ago it was the same as I remembered . But it still seemed a little different
-Glad it hasn’t changed .
-I did lawn bowling there a couple summers when I was a kid. Mrs. Pattenden organized youth lawn bowling.
-My Aunt Fran lived on that street I loved that building
-My grandparents and aunt and uncle bowled there.
-I bowled there in 1966! My grandmother Lena Pond and Mrs James across the street use to get a group of about 30 kids once a week to play in the afternoon during summer holidays! You could buy a can of Grand Prix pop from the fridge in the clubhouse for 10 cents but you needed the old style can opener to open it. The BEST OF TIMES!!!!!
-I remember that too! I also remember getting in trouble with my mother for using the change from the money she had given me for the lawn bowling fee to buy myself pop.
-I remember when I was about 12 going there to watch movies 🎥
-That has been there for a long time
-I seem to recall the clubhouse was moved there a long time ago but also have heard it is the oldest building in town.
-It has been there for over 55 years that I know of
-Perhaps I should have said long long time ago. Been there as long as I remember which as least 55 years.
-So curiosity got the best of me. This clubhouse is over 100 years old and they have their own Facebook site. Help save the Historic Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club.
-The property was bought in December 1917 for the Lawn Bowling Club. The log cabin was built in 1853 and was moved from up Mississauga Rd to serve as the club house. There will be an Open House in May. Come on out and try the sport.
-If they can't save the Club itself .. they should move the cabins to Dominion Gardens ...
-they must be historic buildings under a by-law of heritage i suppose
-The town should assist with a relocation of the entire club to Dominion Gardens in exchange for the property on Edith Street.
-I always found that part of the charm of Georgetown is having places like the fairgrounds and the bowling club right amongst the residential area
-Is it still open? I live close by, and I don't think I ever saw anyone there
-I did see people lawn bowling there this summer.
-I walked by there every day from our house at 17 Edith street - on my way to Park school...picking up my lil buds enroute. Great memories. Thx
