-I remember that house well from when the Pankenins lived there.
-Me too. Pankenin Girls
-The river stone wall never made sense to me as a kid. Though made from natural material, none of the rivers in the area are lined with stone? It always stood out as distinct and kinda odd. An oak tree in the pine forrest type of odd. Lol.
-Beside it was Neil's Music and the cop shop. Wow, I'm old!
-I remember the cop shop. They marched us down in grade school and they took finger prints of the class (for grizzly identification purposes I'll assume?), even as a kid I wasn't sure this is a 'good' idea...I mean I hadn't done anything wrong (that anyone could definitively prove anyhow? :) ).
-The original Mackenzie home on Mill Street was built and owned by sisters Jean and Marjorie Mackenzie. I believe there was a fire and the home was destroyed.
-The MacKenzie sisters lived in a house on Valleyview that was destroyed by fire back in the 90s. Is that the one you are thinking of? I don't remember hearing anything about a fire in this house.
-Yes, that is the house I remember. The fire must have been the one on Valleyview.
-Beautiful Home back in the day.
-What apts are those behind the house? My memory is hazy.
-Silver Creek Apartments ? Two large towers? (one visible to the left) Built in the 1980's if I recall correctly.
-That's what I was thinking. I actually lived in one of the penthouses in the early 90's with some roommates.
-Yes Silver creek towers. 😊
-This a great property. Now owned by Phil & Denis Karda.
-Trendos Interiors to the right located in the carriage house
-I remember
-I remember the Pankenin's lived there for years when I was a younger boy than man .I think he worked at Varian.
-Yes, Lou Pankenin worked at Varian with my dad.
-A photographer owned it for a while too, but his name escapes me. I got inside then and remember the fieldstone fireplace that makes up the living room wall on the inside. Same fieldstones that make up that classic fence.
-Was his last name Gerrard?
-I think it was. He wasn't there long.
-yes it was the Gerard's they lived beside us on gairey then bought this house
-The doctor's surgery was upstairs wasn't it?
-In the early 80's there was a group home for developmentally delayed adults in this home. My brother in law lived there for a while.
