-My friends and I used to frequent the variety store almost daily! It was the “good” one.
-Superior Grocery's I am pretty sure was where the variety store is now. Owned and operated by the Allan family. I went to school with Connie Allan.
-My very first residence after moving out of my parents place! The two windows on the left above the convenience store😊
-In the 50's and early 60's, you went across the street for meat products at the butcher shop. Got your milk from the dairy (delivered). And the baked treats at the bakery. Then came the supermarkets.
-Eaton's had a store on the corner too where dini & co. are.It was a catalogue store where you ordered from their catalogue.

-Was Union Gas before or after Eaton's.....not quite sure

-Yes Sears had a store. I worked there. Same side as McGibbon. I was there in 1986-1989. My mother worked at Eatons which was the 2nd or 3rd store in front the Presbyterian Church.
-At one time Simpson's had an order office on the Main Street too, it was where McMaster's is now.
-I remember the grocery store my mum used to shop there because they delivered
-And to the left of Eaton's/Union Gas was Superiors or Allen's Grocery Store (the owners I think) Way back in the mid sixties

-I worked at Eaton's order office in the mid sixties. It was where Dini's is now.
-Union Gas was there after Eatons. I worked there for Union Gas as did my son Bryan Day
-Funny how the failed business that offered at-home catalogue shopping, like Eatons and Simpsons did, are gone and things like Amazon, Grocery Gateway and now even the Bay will deliver your order to your door or mailbox with just a click on the computer screen.
-Everything old is new again.
-Downtown Video and Variety was my parents store and the sign my brother created 35 years ago still hasn’t been changed
