-That is a great picture.
-Is that the mgibbons
-wow.. thanks.. never seen this one before .. Love it
-McGibbon On the right, Bennett house on the Left
-What a great looking downtown...
-Set up for the Drummer's snack Parade 1912
-Hotel Bennet on the West side. The banner hanging from the second storey 'Welcome Ye old Drummers to Georgetown'. Next to that is the Georgetown Club. There are a lot of decorations up reflecting the Dominion as well as Union Jacks. One fella is on his ladder, looking like he is decorating the storefront with banners and flags. The barber shop on the east side is about in the same place where Rod Presswood would cut my hair when I was growing up! On the north side of the barber shop is Millar & Co., which looks like sells ready-to-wear clothing and home furnishings, and beyond that it LOOKS like W. Scott Meat market. Bank of Hamilton is adjacent to the McGibbon. I'm sure a number of you may know better than I (NOT assuming you were around back then, of course) ;)
-What a good picture !
-Very clear photo.
-great picture! who were "ye old Drummers" do you know?
-I don't think it refers to a specific drum corps. I think it is welcoming all drummers, to what referred to as the Drummers Snack Parade. There's some info online.
-Wonderful picture
-Wow love it.
-My grandparents lived in the house immediately across the road from the church. My mother was born there and then when she and my Dad were married my grandparents turned the house into a downstairs and upstairs apartment and Mom and Dad lived in the upstairs one when I was born.
-I think the main street looks longer then it does now
-Nice
-I wonder if that church steeple at the top left is where my dear Georgetown Alliance church met for many years....70's and 80's at least.
-Yes it is - we lived in an apartment across the road and I remember the signage!
-Wow, I love this. Thank you for posting it.
-Awesome photo!!
