-At the risk of offending anyone, I always thought the old church on Main Street was a lot more appealing visually than this one, but I guess this one must be more functional. I remember going to a program there during Easter break where they had puppet shows. The church was fairly new then - mid-60s.
-I remember that too. Thought it was so much fun back in the day
-Is this in place of the old brick church with ivy growing on it on main St? Close to the library
-Or is it the one on the top end of main St.?
-The one further up Main Street was the original Baptist Church. The church next to the library is Knox Presbyterian. For quite a few years there were active Baptist congregations at both the Main Street and the Maple Avenue churches, but eventually they closed the one on Main Street.
-:Little Cherub Nursery School was in this church back in the mid-70s - both our boys attended and loved the activities and teachers
-I was married there church in that church but in 1963 the church was a lot smaller
-I went to the church on Main Street for z couple if years when it was the baptist church and then it moved to maple avenue and they would bus the kids to this one from George Street and surrounding streets picking up all the kids!
-I remember the beautiful red brick building. Alf Goodwin turned the top of the cupola when the church was first built. He was butler to Mr Fleck who owned Alliance Paper Mill, he worked at the mill later. Lived on Albert Street in the 50 and 60s.
