Left to Right - Gig, Chris Todd, Tom Thompson, Larry Fraser, Brent Barkhouse, John Wilcox, Bruce Gregg -Best nights at Station House!! Great memories!
-Wow, wonderful and so nice to remember Gig as well! -Great memories of a very talented local band ! -What a good picture ! Thanks for sharing... -They were the best! -For those of us that don't remember all those faces, the names would be nice! -I never got to see them play but the third guy from the right taught me how to play guitar. I think his name is Brent. -Bruce Gregg on the far right. -Which sadly we lost him. He was on this group quite frequently and we didn't even know he was dying. So sad. -yes it was very sad. He lived a couple blocks away from me and I used to run into him every so often in the neighbourhood. -Great photo -Before Bryan Day 💖 -Thanks for posting this Bonnie. Been a while since I've seen it. If I could clarify something here, because I get asked ... There were actually 2 versions of Station House. The original band (ver 1) is the one in the photo, Gig started it in the late '60's, we played until Gig left for Berklee in the mid-'70's. Tom Thompson moved away. This is the band that played those wild nights at the Station House... what a blast!! Then, following Gig & Tom leaving...... myself, Fraser & the horn guys were joined by Bryan Day, Larry Thompson & Peter McCormick. This became Station House (ver 2). This is the band that played at the Riviera/Way Jay, and the 2007 Homecoming. As a side note, I have a number of photos of SH2, but none of the original SH1 (other than this photo Bonnie posted). The SH1 photos are what Guy Hillock is looking for.... -Those were the days! Loved hearing SH2 and other great bands at the 2007 homecoming. -They were the best! -Great throw back pic. I remember a few of the guys. -So sorry I missed that day. Wished i had gone to see my friends.
-So much fun. -I had just graduated the year before. There was not a hope in hell I was going back! Now? maybe.... -What a Great Time. -I was there! -Great party! -Great time. -What a great weekend -So much fun reconnecting with friends and classmates. -Phil Honsinger and wife Bette dancing front left! -I recognized them too!! -That was a great weekend. -I can see Dwayne Hay... -Me also ! He is such a great guy ! - Dwayne is such a gentleman. One of the nicest guys ever... -That was the year I got divorced and did happen to be in town but didn't know about it before getting there...... -Belt driven machinery throughout the build/cabinet shop when I was a kid. Dell Laird made quality cabinets back in the day!!
-we were just talking about yrs gone by...steel wood strapping...oohhh sharp! -Wasn't the stone building a blacksmith shop in the days of horses being the mode of transportation? -I remember that building well... The owner, Sam MacKenzie was our landlord of a little house on Elgin St. in Georgetown, 1962-63 -This is our office now! 8 James Street Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Members Women in Business Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Group Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce -Taken from the parking lot behind the old municipal hall. Road my first 2 wheeler at a police auction in 1966 -Played a lot of road hockey in that parking lot!! -That became the Beaver Lumber site, until it burnt down.
-This is the site of the present day Silvercreek Towers Apartment buildings in behind the Carpet Barn store on Guelph & Mill Streets -There was an apt. building in there some where. Is this further down the street? -The apartment buildings replaced Beaver Lumber after the fire. -There was an apartment building just to the right of this photo, on the same side as you went down "Water Street".!!! -Knew a few folks that lived in the Water St. Apts. -They were called water street apartments lived there one time -Lot of people lived there back in the day Wayne. -Sure did -Lived there short time...till no heat lol -I can remember Grandma Hayes & Aunt Marg living there & the girls. Babysat for a couple who lived in there also. -Right - it was further down the street (Water Street), on the west side. Thanks for jogging my memory. -the building Mom lived in was kind of an old building cant place it but the old driving shed was behind it -There was an apartment building between beaver and an old abandoned factory further south on what was still called Water Street. Hatcher’s were one family that I remember living there. -There was an attempted Murder in that apartment building many years ago, the victim was sadly left in a vegetative state after a severe beating!! -I worked with the guy at the paper mill -The Morette family lived in that apartment building for a few years back in the 60s before they moved to Prince Charles Drive. I think Mr. Morette was the superintendent of the building. -Water Street is now Park Ave. - I lived across the street for many years. -Lived there in the old apts. years ago Sean Stroud u did live almost across the street .kinda like neighboors lol. -My Grandfather (Fred Anthony) worked there in the early-mid 30's and mom thinks he might have still been there after Kentners sold to Beaver Lumber. He built their house on Durham St with lumber from there (and she's pretty sure he paid for it legitimately). -I remember attending Georgetown Public School in the 1940s when Mr. Wrigglesworth was principal. There was a Paul Cunningham in my same grades. -Cheesy Cunningham, Bill Cunninghams brother, He was a barber at Hutch's barber shop, pool room. Gave me my first Iroquis hair cut. -Thanks Kent, didn't know that. I think "that" Bill Cunningham's father and my grandfather (Bob) were cousins - or something like that. -My stationwagon on the left!
-I think that’s Sue, Deb and Erin standing in the middle! -I remember that place as always floods few times..... -This flood was caused when Maple Avenue collapsed and then the water backed up and came rushing down Sliver Creek. Once the backup of water went through the water level dropped. And flooding was NOT a common occurrence, I lived there! -I thought due to ice jams from the Glen lol duh see you learn something new every day no matter how old ya are !!! 🙂 -I don't know where or when you lived there but every spring from at least 1976 to 1983 the park was under water. Not as bad as this picture but always flooded at the end. -I remember this happening …………...more than once -Yes, a few times while I lived there! -Do we know what year the photo was taken -Guessing by the cars, I'd say very early 80's. - Early 80’s. -said 81 or 82. -Tks for the picture...reminded me of my dad Norm Guthrie -Could this have been when the little boy was missing. He had fallen into the river. Every time I drive by I think of him and his Mother who was running up and down frantically searching for her little one. Something that I will never forget. I noticed the police car there. -I use to plow the park. -All those years I never was in that PARK -I loved growing up there. -There are leaves on the trees so it not an ice jam. -There's a good reason why people shouldn't live there anymore, as hard as it was for all the people to have had to move out. -Just as the picture indicates - it's because of the flooding! -I lived there for ten years and that was the only flood. It wasn’t due to winter thaw or ice jams. If you see the comments above, this “flood” was due to the collapse of Maple Rd bridge by Cedervale. He water backed up then rushed through. -But it's still in a low area & prone to flooding, especially with people living there. I know I wasn't there & people were angered at having to move out. Wasn't my decision. But if it's any consolation, Willow Park is very nice and environmentally friendly with its natural trees & plants and all. -If everyone who lives in a low area was forced to move due to flooding danger, why hasn’t it happened anywhere else in Halton Hills? -Good question. -More homes in town made more water from suage plant into creek predicted to cause higher eater levels in Willow Park. Is what I was told. -Is there a Park there in the summer for Folks to picnic ? Open to the Public or is it Privately owned now? -Anyone can go any time they want. There is a gazebo with picnic tables - perfect place for a picnic. -That would be a lovely spot. Is there parking? -Yes, right off Mary St by the garden. -You can park at the Norval school then walk down the path to the park - I took my grandsons there one year they had a blast looking at the turtles etc !! -somehow I mostly remember it flooded lol Had an aunt and uncle and 2 cousins that used to holiday there -it is part of Lucy Maude Montgomery park I think -I new I connected to park from LMM park -I thought people moved in late 1960’s or early 70’s. I grew up in Norval and visited the park in 2011 with a friend who had lived there for a few years. -I remember name. I lived In Norval in early 50's. -wish they had a girls team when i was growing up!
-Think they missed off Lesley Quackenbush’s name as goalie. -Judy...is this you? -Yes Amber it is me, we had so much fun and formed a girls baseball team from that group and called ourself the Georgettes. -Judy that is awesome!!! -My Sister Jo miss her so much -Wow, I don't have this photo. Any chance of getting a cooy? -Ha ha!! "Softer and Prettier" would not go over well today!! -Trailblazers!! :) -Think of Jo often. She was always fun to be around.❤️ -Great bunch and so glad to say that I knew most of them and could call the ones I know my friends to this day.

Still in touch with some of these team mates today <3 -What a great picture,I used to work with Marilyn Duncliffe at the Cibc, often wonder where she is today. - I looked to see f I was in picture as I played for Bill at one time too lol! - I have one with you in it Sherrie. -well I remember playing with you lol -Brings back memories ⚾️Thanks for sharing! -Remember having Bill as coach a few time great times -I do enjoyed seeing that picture l need to find mine -Lynne S & Pat A still look the same -I played against this team. One year Rob Bouskill was our coach. I remember the year we won the championship. -I had Rob as a coach also Sandy - what colour sweater did you wear that year? -Maroon I think. Debbie Pearce, Jeanette Mercer, Sandy Lewis, Marilyn Leavitt, Marg Snow, Joanne Kemper, Lynn McCristal, Anne Puckering, Leanne Lewis to name a few. I played for a few years. Great group of ladies. -My man in the back row on far right Jerry Hilts, how handsome is he? The coach on the left is Rick Nickel. -such a nice guy 🙂 -he was an amazing guy for sure and I was very lucky to have him in my life. I miss him every day. -has he passed away Susan? I’m so sorry, I didn’t know that! -Sadly he passed February 18, 2014 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. -I’m so, so sorry to hear that, my condolences albeit late -Is there a date for this picture and a location?
-Is this on MacIntyre? -Macintyre. Not sure of the year. 1950s. -That house is still there. -It is a condo now. -Love this house look at it out my front window every day 🤗 -That is my grandparents place , Reids there was a large farm there where the Mall and sub division is - I did not no that was your grandparents place. -Yes actually My Great Grandfather built the house Robert Reid , then My Grandda took over William Reid. I have the Walnut Mantel from the fireplace that was in the parlor -It was moved to where it sits now was it not? -my first house was built by rex heslop homes -Didn't the windmill have the Georgetown Marketplace sign on it for many years at the highway 7 entrance? -Grew up across the street from this house -The haunted house! That's what we call it here on McIntyre. The photo looks like something out of the Adam's Family. -even then it looked creepy -lol for sure -The McIntyre Mansion! - the Reid Family built that house belonging to a large dairy farm -I stand corrected. For awhile people called it McIntyre Mansion though. -we lived there!!! that back window on the left was the kitchen the middle window was my bedroom and the last one was the living room as well as the front one!!! -Wow! I don't remember a time in your life when you lived there Rachel Baker Briscoe. How old were you when you lived here? -McIntyre spooky house loved Halloween there -Oh ya fun times -I live down the street from you #12 McIntyre 😎 -it’s been a very long time 🙂 McIntyre was a great street to grow up on. -My Mom and Dad still live in the same house.I love that street growing up 😎 -That’s great, I actually check out the street when I visit Gtown. -Is that at the go bus station? -No on Macintyre -My Dad worked for Rex Heslop in the early 60's. -Lived across the road from there for 15 years or so McIntyre was a great st to raise kids on -Something eerily sad about that pic but I guess it’s progress -It was a very grand farm house in the day. -Lived right across the road at 96 McIntyre Cres - great Street with tons of kids and lots of ball hockey and “kick the can” games. Those days are long gone for kids today! -I lived there too in 65-67 area. We lived in the front left looking at it face on. It was a one bedroom with a small kitchen and huge livingroom. The bathroom was upstairs all by itself -Rex created Rexdale, Delrex. - the TSR went through their "backyard"... -Wow! We lived across from it too! 90 McIntyre Cres. Lots of great games of hide and seek as kids around that ol’ house! Is it still standing? Good me memories.... -That is an awesome picture so they used the old mansion as a sales office?? -I'd say 1958-65 maybe???? Looks like the Addams Family house! -...Heslop, the developer of Rexdale in Etobicoke, had purchased several farms on Georgetown's eastern boundary in 1954. By 1958, he and his wife Delma and their two children - Marilyn and Rex Jr. - had moved into their brand new spacious home on Heslop Court. Heslop then tried a similar venture to Rexdale, but this time in Georgetown by creating another subdivision, this one called Delrex. He ran into political problems and tired of name-calling and in-fighting, sold his interest and retired at the age of 61. -Sadly he also served time in jail for trying to influence members of the council. The mayor then, Ernie Hyde, recorded the conversations. That broke his spirit. Also, the lack of water and sewage capacity slowed development. The lands that are now Georgetown South were all part of the Heslop land purchase options. Bruce McLaughlin (Mr. Square One) bought the options but built nothing and sold it off later, after trying to sue the town for stalling development. -wow that certainly is interesting historical trivia. Mayor Ern Hyde was my uncle and brother-in-law to my dad Don Humberstone -Reid Farm. -Ron's aunt and uncle had an apartment there back in early sixties -didn't DR McIntosh live in that house at one time?? -No his home and office was down around the corner |
