-Wicks 5 and Dime and Fendley Florists too, in earlier years. There was a bowling alley in the basement too, if I remember right.
-Yep it was in the basement
-You could hear the pins crashing when you walked by
-I remember the five and dime here but couldn't remember the name of it. I'm glad we can help each other out here Richard. 😊
-They moved up next to Stedmans. It may have just been 5 and 10 cent, but in those days you knew the people behind the counter and they knew you.
-My dad use to set the pins there in his youth.
-I heard somewhere the bowling alley is still under the floor of the old fitness club,
-Remember the bowling alley great times made up our own little league 👍
-One of my favourite places in Georgetown
-Didn't have to go too far from yesterdays pic. Lol. There was a hard core gym in the basement years ago. Muscle Works.
-Remember that well
-Wicks 5 & dime in my youth.
-I can only imagine how much has changed since I was in Georgetown last approx. 20-25 years ago now.
Going "way back", I remember going with Mom when she was in a bowling league. The big treat was to get something at the snack counter. I think I remember an arborite counter and round stools you could twirl around on. That would have been in the early 50's!
-Love going in there never know what you might find
-It was a great store when we lived in Georgetown I can remember buying many things when we first started out even bought my son's baby dresser there for $5 good memories
-Lived upstairs from 79 to 82 when it was Fendley Florists.
-Volunteered there back in 2014 and enjoyed every bit of it!
-i remember gazing longingly to the dolls that the ‘5 to dime’ store had in 1957
-every Thursday, me and my mom would go there and find something we just needed to have. I still do it ... only a different town now.
