-We arrived from England and moved into Georgetown in 1956. Not much money in parent's pocket and at winter our mother would go to Silvers and get us winter coats on credit. She said many times..that if it was not for Silvers, we would not have had winter coats. I remember when I worked, I would put clothes on credit ..and guess what..no interest. I still have a blouse from Silvers..(though it is a little small on me now) . It is said Charity begins at home and I guess that The Silver family felt that Georgetown was home. Thank you!
