-Great blast from the past😀
-Remember working as a bouncer there in the late 90’s. Got talking to an old guy about the place a few years ago. He said he’s traveled across Canada in his time and it was the roughest bar around when he was young. Thought I was crazy for working there.

-That was my husband & I along with a bunch of friends our Friday nite outing .as soon as we walked in Tom would have our beers on a table. Loved that place. A friend of mine D.Reynolds used to live upstairs with her family.
-this is the Hollywood after the fire! It was totally different when I moved to Norval in 1957
-Yeppers Donna I remember when you guys moved there - it must have been after we moved over to Carters half of their house 🙂 good times we all had in Norval and at the Hollywood 🙂
-Just sad that it is titled as the "Hollywood" ........long gone, burned and is no more ........location remains! <3
-Had a good time Friday night and Saturday night, men on one side and women on the other side, lot of good memories.
-I remember going in there with friends when I wasn't old enough to drink and who was in there but my Mum and Dad but they never ever said anything but they knew I knew, enough said
-what happened in the Hollywood stayed in the Hollywood lol
-I bet they felt in one sence a relief to see you there as they knew you were safe and need be they could be there for you if things ran amuck!
-My parents allowed us to drink with them as they knew we were going to do it anyway but they could try to teach us to be responsible and there were some great family times!!!
-You got that right Jackie often wondered what my parents thought, was scared shitless to go home, but not a word was said
-I was going to ask if it was in Norval, we use to dive off the old bridge behind it and I was sure that's what it was called but never been in there!
-I got to see Kitty Wells there with my Mom.
-Whether a game of billiards and a jug of draft, seeing a young love of yours dance, or crossing paths with friends...always a great time there, even saw Maestro Fresh Wes perform there, epic! lol ❤️
-I saw the Good Brothers there.
-Me too! A couple of times.
-Had so many great times there, especially with the ball and hockey teams!
-Ghost Ryder
-Used to be called the "Hollywood House"
-Went there every Saturday night after playing shiny hockey at the Alcott. Great place.
-I worked there for 5 years
-Attended a Halloween Party at the Hollywood in the seventies.
-It would have to be 1978 or 1979, because I was only 16 in 1976. ;) And the drinking age was 19 when I was a teenager. I do remember going, but don't even remember who I went with! I don't recognize anyone else either.
-Rocking Horse on stage?
-I'd have been the bouncer.
-Such great memories!
-The Hollywood tavern,..I have nothing but great memories of that place,.My time there was from 1971 to 1975.I played in a band out of Oakville in those days & would have to drive from Georgetown to Oakville to meet up with the rest of the band except when we p;layed at the hollywood, we were in there every six weeks.Country Soul was the name of the band. But back to the Hollywood,in those days Tom Johnston was the owner. He is the only guy I know that knew how to treat his musicians. In those days on Fridays you played till 12 o clock. On Saturday night it was 11:30 ,customers were out by midnight.then he would feed the musiicians what ever they wanted ,KFC pizza .Anybody the band wanted to stay after hours were welcomed. Tom took me & other musicians to Rock Hill Park many times to see Nashville entertainers on Sundays at his expense, however many he could fit into his car..In those days it was two sided, mens side & ladies & escorts. If I wasn't playing anywhere else I was at the hollywood on the weekend. Tom would find someone who I could sit with at their table.I met & got aquainted with many area musicians in those days, how many remember,Ross Hillier & the Country Rythmn boys, Willis Jarvis & the Generation Gap,Bob Bettridge & the Country Classics,,Jack Reeves & the Reeves boys,,Rocking Horse( with Ron Hachey),Joe Firth & the Promised Land, Honey West & of course the group I played in Country Soul that Featured the only band with a girl singer at the time. These were all great bands & we had great times. till Tom Johnston decided to sell, from that point things started to go down hill. The new owners didn't do a good job at all,I had a few disagreements with them, & wouldn't play there anymore. Then they sold & Ron Hachey bought the place & then it burned down under his watch.I'm gonna close this out now it's getting too long. There are a lot more stories to be told about the Hollywood tavern......Ken Majuery....
-Great story! Thanks for sharing.
-awe story was as was
-When it burned it was a different owner again
-Lots of gd stories and old friends thank you
-It's where I met my husband
-Saddest day in Norval....
-That’s for sure!!!
-I still live in Norval right across from the old Hollywood. Seen a lot of good bands there but how many remember J P and Charlie. ( Ken )
-They were hilarious, couldn’t stop laughing 😆
-Mary, I think Charlie was one of the waiters,JP was johnny Pickles, I think he had something to do with checking coats especially in the winter. If you came in the back door the re was a little closet like room on the right. It makes me sad & happy to see a picture of the original building. .Just so very many great memories of the hours I spent in that building... Ken..
-Ken, it was an act, man and a dummie, funny as heck. :)
-You're right Don,I recall that now. Do you remember one of the waiters Big Lou he was a tall man no hair on top of his head & big hands looking at him you wouldn't want to tangle with him, I recall another waiter kind of heavy set, I think his name was Jack King.Ivan Reynolds was the bartender..Are any of the Hachey's still around from the Rocking Horse band. Ron was the front Man,Don Seddon the lead guitar,Chris Moon was the bass player I think he was from Brampton,& Ray Kingley was the drummer. It was Don Seddon who taught me to play guitar. He was a mechanic at the old Sunoco station on Guelph street on the heading to Norval .A lot of great times in that place Don it was a long time ago,48 years now since I first stepped in that hotel. I remember because the gov't had just lowered the drinking age from 21 to 19.....Ken...
-Lou was married to my mother in law, he also worked at the McGibbon around 1975. They moved out west in late 70s. He is still alive, living in Vancouver I think,
-Thats two bad.I really ever knew Ron because of the band Rocking Horse,& I knew he had a brother,I think his name was Jim he was married to one of the cuthberts from the Glen .Hachey's were a very musical family going back two or three generations ,as I had mentioned in another reply I knew the guys in the Rocking Horse band......Ken...
-Three brothers Jim, Allan and Ken still going strong.
-Remember getting off late shift from Standard products racing to get there dot last call .. Many great times there in the 70 s
-Lady gave me $2 to get the band to play Wasted Days& Wasted Nights, I said to Chris Moon, will You play Freddie Fenders Wasted days & wasted nights, Chris said, why, He don't play any of our fn music.
