-Town hall was between Wigo TV and Golden Fish and Chips too. You could pay your water bill and chat with the mayor. Joe Gibbons always kept his office door open.
-Cop Shop was in the back back then
-Yes Jim. Our two man force.
-So where is it now?
-The newer one is on Maple.. Across the road from North Halton Golf Club
-Oh,okay thanks
-Had a next door neighbor who was the maintenance man on that property years before the town purchased it. I got to go up there a few times with him. VanderValk was his last name I think. He had a son who started a Auto Parts business in town. He was a good guy to me as he got me a job cleaning Wrigglesworth school after hours.
-I used to run and train some beagles there and there was a bubbling spring there i think.
-I thought the original town hall was across from St Johns united and it got struck by lightening and burnt to the ground.
-I know that Hydro transformer where the. Town hall was. Still gets hit a lot It’s the first area of town to have a power outage
-I don't know about the lightening but I remember the day of the fire. We were sitting in my dad's back yard in the mid 70's. Old building had been fire Hall too. Trying to explain bag milk to my brother Mike's fiance who was from Sudbury and had never seen it. Then to top it off, the fire hall catches fire! Albeit the old one. She thought was folks in the south were nuts!
-The building occupied by the dance studio on Main St. was a town building at one time.
-Was the town building but not the town hall.
-Could you pay taxes there at one time?
-I’m not sure weather it was offices or a town hall. Good question. I never saw the building. I used to work at St Johns United
-Thanks John, that's the one Richard Forster and I were talking about. I don't remember the one Bonnie posted.
-It shows up in some old main street shots. It was not an architectural gem.
-It was at one time Richard before it was left in ruins after the fire.
-The real old town hall was where all the vans are for sale. Across from the old ambulance building. Never used in my days.
-One thing I've wondered about: the Town Hall is on Halton Hills Drive, and there is also a Halton Hills Drive, which is a dead-end, off Princess Anne Drive. Is the plan to join them eventually?
-Eventually.
-Planning is for the Bennett Center to build across the road. They could be waiting on that. Not sure why it’s not connected yet.
-Will the new building replace the present one, or be in addition to it?
-replace. Word is it’ll be a whole new complex.
-Halton Hills Drive will be extended soon.
-The town website has a land use plan map on it. It shows what is planned for Halton Hills Dr. from the Civic Centre to the Gallery..
-Town houses are going in on Halton Hills drive between town hall and the Bennett centre, it’s already starting to happen. They are breaking ground
-Well Civic center is 1 Halton hills drive condo is 200 Halton hills drive?
-Then I guess the town houses will be in the 100s.
-I think my mother planted that pine tree in memory of my sister
