-The old road with the dip and the curve was tricky, the fire trucks would bottom out and get stuck if they didn't hit it just right. Same for the snow plow drivers.
-walked it many times on family hikes to Ballinifad from Georgetown....yes us kids walked all the way and loved every step!!
-First night i met my future hubby we flew over the dip in his Javelin weeeee
-Remember when it was a gravel road with a one lane bridge, got stuck there so many times in winter, no four wheel drive back then
-I also walked it many times ! It really was kind of dangerous !
-So was Audrey, scarey when a school bus was coming, not much room
-Wildwood lodge was to the right of this picture. Brigadier General Girvan lived there. His son Ken raised his family there in the 60's and 70's. Ken subdivided the land before he and his wife Jean retired to Victoria in the 80's. The old house was neat. A fieldstone fireplace with gargoyles hanging from it. Some of you may have grown up with Jane, John and Marti Girvan who grew up there. It was well hidden from the road. I would love to see it today.
-LOL I forgot all about the Gargoyles it was a cool house.
-remember horse riding there?
-Yes I do. I was going through chemotherapy while I attended camp at Wildwood Manor, and I don’t remember much of that time except chemo sickness unfortunately. Broke my collarbone while picking cherries with campers too... haha Wasn’t funny then but what a great time I had there, never wanted to leave the farm.
-I remember summer camp there with Mrs. Milne and helped to take care of all those horses.
-Many years ago my mom and I got the car stuck in the snow on that hill. Was a whole lot steeper then. We walked up to Tut Harrisons to call Dad for help. Somewhere on that bend is the diamond from my Mom's engagement ring from that trek up the hill 😀
-I went to camp there. Then became friends with all the Milnes. Haven’t seen them in a long time. Anyone know how they’re doing?
