-I was in grade 4 for half days, waiting for the new school to be finished on rexway Dr. Harrison school.
-I was there also, for kindergarten and grade one - still remember the opening day at Harrison (but we still did all of our school concerts at Wrigglesworth - the only stage in town
-I remember a concert when I was in kindergarten at Harrison done on that stage. Margaret Van Sickler Landry, were you ever able to find the old film footage? That would be so cool to look at us dancing in our paper skirts LOL :):)
-In winter they would make a rink in the yard. All the neighbourhood kids would go skating. Could see the back porch light and knew when to go home. Great memories!
-I was there for a couple of weeks for Kindergarten and then transferred to Chapel Street School. Georgetown Little Theatre did their shows there for many years before Georgetown had a real stage for their performances.
-The first show I did was the wizard of oz. as a panto. I was Md.
-Went there from kindergarten to grade 6!
-Spent most of my elementary years there. Fond memories of many teachers like Miss Hall (brown suits every day), Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Pinkerton to name a few. Mr. Kinrade became my model when I became a principal. He dressed the part, carried himself professionally, and was clearly in charge of the building. He seemed to know every student's name, something I tried to do. And I can still hear his morning announcements. Don't know how he could see that we had not put our pencils down when he started talking!!
-My memories may be a bit different, but all good just the same.
-If I remember correctly, you may have seen Mr. Kinrade from a different perspective. Think I made it to "the bench" once. How about you?
-oh a least once or twice. He definitely knew my name.
-I remember going to the office and had the threat of getting the strap but I got off but when I got home I was in trouble cant remember what I did lol
-Oh yes.... that bench outside his office..... sat on it a few times :)
-I started school in kindergarten the year it opened . Mary Jane you too eh . Both my kids Jeff & Julie went there too. I -think it was a great school -good play yard ,gym & small enough that the teachers knew everyone especially ones that needed extra tlc . Not like these schools they want to build now kindergarten to grade 12 so big !! Sad they changed the school name. Mr Wrigglesworth ,although I did not know him, was obviously a good man & did a lot for education of kids in Georgetown. It is wrong that first they honor someone very deserving then take it away just like the Alcott Arena now Moldmasters. Both these these men did a lot for Georgetown kids & community & deserved for their legacy to live on-not replaced because of what?? money???. Sad .
-It’s no longer a school that’s why the name changed. It’s now a school for kids finishing high school credits and became Gary Alan
-I believe the school was named after a teacher that died young from a heart attack that taught at Chapel Street School.
-If I remember correctly Howard Wrigglesworth was the principal at Chapel Street
-That's correct. His widow, Ruth Wrigglesworth, taught at Park School. She later became Mrs. Forgrave when she married Ernie Forgrave, who many people will remember from GDHS.
-it was a great school. Have many great memories and friends from that era. Money seems to rule everything now very sad.
-Was lucky enough to be one of the last students to Graduate from Grade 8 at the school in 1969. Mr. Elliott was are teacher! I still have my graduation program!
-Great memories
-I was in the grade 7 half of the grade 7/8 split class in 1969.
-I also attended school here from kindergarten to graduation in grade eight. Remember most of the teachers from Mrs. Carson in grade one to Mr Kinrade in grade eight. One can never forget Miss Hall in her brown suits, I believe grade six lol. Still have lots of friends from those years.
-The home of Georgetown Little Theatre's plays for much of my youth.
-I started kindergarten there with Allison Henry as the teacher. She was my inspiration to be a kindergarten teacher. I returned later to teach in that very classroom!
-My teacher as well. Great start to education.
-Was she related to Harold Henry who was principal at Harrison many years ago.
-Yes Bob, she was his wife. In later years they lived on he corner of Maple and Valleyview.
-went to grade 8 there when arriving from England without Mr. Kinrade would never have made it Did split shifts for a while .
-This school sure has fond memories for me. Both Ed and I attended Wrigglesworth School. We were the last grade 8 graduating class at that school in 1969. It is also where Ed and met, fell in love and have been together every since, close to 49 years. Made some very special friends too that I am still closely in touch with. Great memories.
-my sister and I started there the first day it opened. Grade 3 to 8. I was in Pirates of Penzance and was Alice in Wonderland.. had |Miss Scarlett, I was SO nervous around her. I
- Just found our grade 8 photo Sandy in the vault Sad lots of that class gone but it was a fun class
-I went there and was the last to go there. As we all got shipped to different schools in the area.
-I went to Wrigglesworth a lot of memories some good some bad lol but still have very close friendships with those I went with Favourite teacher was Mr Mckewen xo

-We called it the new school was named after Mr. Wrigglesworth. Went there in grade 6.McNally Const. built the gym.
-Had a horrible teacher there. Mrs Fox... She made learning frightening.
-I remember her. 😮
-I had Mrs. Fox.
-I can even remember what she looked like. Short A little roundish. With short dark hair Haha
-Many kids from Normandy blvd and Durham St played baseball
-yes it was fun times we all got together after school and played Baseball at the school
-Went there from grade 1 to grade 7 (1969) when they switched over to middle school. I had to go to Stewarttown for grade 8 because we lived above Main Street while all my buds went on to Centennial. Then GDHS.
-Attender for grade 7 and 8. Mr. Kinrade was principal and taught grade 8. Good times.
-Can anyone tell me why they took my Dad's name off the building? Just wondering. Thanks.
-I wondered the same thing Bob.
-that would be an excellent question to ask someone at the Board.
-I think it might be Because it became Sacre Coeur many years later. Late 80s I believe.
-Honestly not sure Bob.. it's now a Adult Learning Center.. I don't even know who the heck Gary Allen is!!
-I knew Gary Allen and worked for HDSB Adult & Continuing Ed for 18yrs. He was an awesome man.
-Gary Allen as a continuing education facility has more than one location within HDSB. I wonder if when the building was designated for that purpose, that's the name it had to take on. Too bad they couldn't have just left the old name on there as well though....
-Ya I went to wiggle worm. Not that many good memories. I was tortured by a few teachers. One comes to mind Mrs Pinkney what a mean person she was. She made me hate school.
-I went there
-I went there till grade 5
-went there from kindergarten to grade 8, Mr. John Lenz was a favorite of mine as well as Mr. Pinkerton and Mrs.Taylor and I think Mrs. Sears.
-Mr. Pinkerton? What year? I thought he was at Kennedy.
-He was also my homeroom teacher in Stewarttown
-Mr. Pinkerton was our neighbour on the 9th line in Glen Williams.
-Is he still alive. He was my art teacher in gr 7 and 8 at Stewarttown. I went to Wriigglesworth for the last part of grade 5 and 6. Remember Mr. Kinrade walking home for lunch. Miss Bradley was my favorite teacher.
-..I was approx. 12-14 yrs. old at the time...probably he wouldn't be alive anymore...
-Mr. Pinkerton from Kennedy has passed. Don't know about the Pinkerton from Wrigglesworth.
-I was told a few years ago that HWPS Pinkerton lived in Belfountain. Not sure it that’s true or not...haven’t lived in ON for 12+ years
-Went there kindergarten till grade 8
-Mr Pinkerton always with the finger guotes all the time. Mrs Taylor great teacher.
-Kindergarden 1955, Mrs Billsborough gave me .25 cents to go to Kays for a package of Hostess buttertarts. cost was .12 cents and I got to keep the change, the wealthiest day of my life, and I gave it all to Kays for candy !
-There two Mr. Pinkertons, they were brothers, one at Kennedy and one at Wrigglesworth.
-I did not know there was two Mr Pinkertons. I remember the one at Kennedy.
-I remember the one from Wrigglesworth !! 😃
-There was definitely 2 brothers. The funny thing was they were from a small town, Pinkerton Ontario up South Hampton way.
-that's just weird !! lol
-Maybe the town was named after their great great Grandpas or something.
-maybe so !!
-Did the one at Kennedy do air quoted as well ?
-He did not, as far as I remember.
-Went there from kindergarten to grade 6 then stewarttown grade 7&8.
-My favorite teacher was grade 4 Miss Smith.. she was hot..lol.. and Not Mrs Smith.. she had a moustache.. lol..mrs taylor grade 6 liked girls hated boys.. i remember getting the strap from mr kinrade. He flipped his hair back every time he hit you.. ouch..
-My sister graduated at grade 6 and Wigglesworth closed when I finished grade 3(this was a very sad day). My teachers Mrs B (kindergarten - I know how to say her name but not spell it), Mrs. Walker(gr 1), Mrs. Dunning(gr 2/3) Mrs. Barrows(gr 2 and she was my gr 6 teacher @ Centennial), Mrs. Knight(gr 3)
-Was there for grade 8 - Mr Kinrade was principal.
-I went there for half a yr in 62. Grade one. Mrs Ruddell I think 🤔
-I went there for kindergarten, then they closed.
-Bob as far as I am concerned they should consulted your family about any name change. It will always be Wrigglesworth to me.
-me to great memories there K-6
-Was there grade 6 to half of 8 before going back to Chapel....grade 8 was a split class in the gym with a false wall splitting another class
-Went there K-8. Graduated ‘67. Mr Lenz, Pinkerton, Kinrade all great teachers? Mrs Billsborough was my K teacher. Does anyone remember the name of our Gr 8 teacher who taught in the mornings & Mr K in the afternoons? (I think it was Mrs. Barnes) We gave our original teacher ?? (Colonel Beasley) a nervous breakdown... not a good reputation for our class?? I remember Miss Hall breaking her pointer over Dale?? head in Gr 5. He was growing so fast he couldn’t stay awake all day. Mrs. Hunt even with her stutter was a good teacher. I did NOT like Mrs. Taylor!!!!
-The teachers name was Mr Elliot
-You’re right Mr. Elliot. I think most of us were bigger than him, he was a very slight man.
-Now known as Gary Allen High School. I got my high school diploma there. Wouldn't have graduated otherwise.
-I attended School there from kindergarten to grade 6

-I went to Chapel street for kindergarten and grade 1 because we lived on Ewing st. then . We moved to King St. before grade 1 ended so I had to walk from Chapel st. school to King st . everyday . I got lost on my first day walking home by myself . I made it to where King st. east and west plus Queen st . and the Station house met and didn't know which way to go from there. . A neighbour ( June Lyons ) from across the street from our house found me ( crying my eyes out ) and took me home ... lol lol lol .... Memories !!!!!!

I very much had a pleasant experience there other than having the strap from Miss Hall who apologized all the time doing it, 4 on each hand
-I remember all those same teachers Don . Not the Science teachers name though . Who was the teacher that while giving the strap would say " this is going to hurt me as much as it is going to hurt you " reason being when they raised the strap it would come back and hit that teachers arm before they could hit the persons hand . One for her and one for them 😂😂😂
-Mr.Scott maybe.
-I too remember sitting on the so-called bench outside of Mr. Kinrade's office..cause we Boulevard kids all stuck together..they called us the Normandy Blvd. benchwarmer's..ha ha and if one kid was getting the strap we were all getting it..:)
-do you know what was the first name of your teacher Mrs. Moffat? I had a teacher named Dorothy Moffat at Park School, she was also our neighbour.

-do you remember the Mr. Pinkerton who taught art in Stewarttown. I see you only went to Wriggleswirth until high school however you may be able to find out. Imagine my kids went there until the school closed.. The school found old pictures. In them I found a picture of my aunt Linda White and my Uncle Carl Sedore who died at the age of 16. I never met him but remember seeing pictures at my grandmother's. Wriiglewoth put them up on a wall and if you knew the pictures you were allowed to take them home.

-went there for awhile when they were building Harrison School

-Ohhhhh ...... the memories Ernie has of this school from 1954 on as well as our two boys attending school here ......it closed its doors in June of 1986 .........Rooster graduated from Grade 6 that year and we moved to Burlington.
-I remember Mr. Lenz as my first male teacher at Wrigglesworth. Grade 7. Hope I a correct. Lol
-I remember a Mr. Lenz , just not which grade he taught !!
-I had mr lenz grade 7 I believe when people knocked on the door and I the on door duty and they were standing there with a dam snake he would get mad because I wouldn't take it and put in the aquarium where he collected them but a great teacher
-I attended Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2 & 3. (early 1960's)

-Out of all the teachers I had at Wrigglesworth Mrs Billsborough was the best. I believe that she lived a couple of houses down from the Dairy Queen. She was always kind to me.
-I was there also, for kindergarten and grade one - still remember the opening day at Harrison (but we still did all of our school concerts at Wrigglesworth - the only stage in town

A neighbour ( June Lyons ) from across the street from our house found me ( crying my eyes out ) and took me home ... lol lol lol .... Memories !!!!!!
-great memories for sure

-I remember all those same teachers Don . Not the Science teachers name though . Who was the teacher that while giving the strap would say " this is going to hurt me as much as it is going to hurt you " reason being when they raised the strap it would come back and hit that teachers arm before they could hit the persons hand . One for her and one for them 😂😂😂
